Lets get a speculation starting: are the girls there all really so perverted, or because they studied in the all girls school without contact with the boys they have kind of shifted view on the outside world and behavior of the male gender? (inami x 180°)

This appears to be the summer's Rorschach - not too many on the fence. Random Curiosity - loved it. Star Crossed - hated it. Draw a line down the middle of this board and you appear to get the same results. When something like that happens I always figure there's a chance I just don't "get" the show - maybe if I keep watching something will click. And as there's so little that's grabbed me so far this summer, nothing to lose by giving it another episode.
But boy, that first episode sure wasn't funny to me. I really don't get it...

the girl and period jokes caught me by surprise a bit, but they come out so unexpectedly that it works for me.
Other than Student Counsul, I'm not connecting this with the that other Seitokai show last season or so... looking forward to a light-hearted series with just enough jokes to keep me entertained.

It isn't a question of hidden meanings - sometimes with comedy something just won't strike you funny and then, all of a sudden, it does. Maybe it has to do with the angle you're looking at it from, or something. I mean - there are other shows with the same general style of humor that I've enjoyed a lot. Just not this one, so far.

Yo! Fuck me, am I the only one that was slightly turned on by the end of this?! The part where they were watching the porn DVD. Damn. I feel mind-screwed. Wish I knew girls that were like "that." @_@
Also does the Mech in the ending song seem like a homage to Gurren Lagaan? Because it looks like one of those from that series.

If there is a way how an animated 4koma would look, this would be it. Liked the camera work at start (and the OP), added a nice feeling of quirky energy, and quirky is definitely one thing this show is. As with all things humor, you either like it or you don't, and while the very start of the show i was reeling on the fence, i quickly developed a taste for these one-minute gags.
The characters are an oddball bunch to be sure, which worked together nicely with the deadpan male lead who couldn't really care less about their antics, tough luck for him. Can't blame the guy for feeling worn out though, being around the seemingly serious but at the same time blatantly perverted Shino, the seemingly sisterly but actually laid back goes-with-the-flow Aria, to the small (and angry) animal-like Suzu ... yeah, i can see why he would feel constantly worn out All in all this was a very entertaining first episode, with a mostly fresh feel to the humor thanks to the directing, i only hope they can keep the style going and don't run out of fresh gags; thus far, my favorite comedy of the season.

1. I think the idea is that Shino is really pretty innocent, but straightforward and confident.
2. I think it's a matter of not "getting" the humor. Not in the sense of being ignorant, but in the sense of either enjoying this kind of humor or not. I can see why someone might not find this as funny as I do. 3. To me, Seitokai no Ichizon was at a higher level of humor and drama, but I certainly enjoyed ep1 of this. It covered approximately what I'd read of the comic, so I'm looking forward to what comes next. 4. There are women who are about as straightforward as this in mixed company, but it should be said that the mangaka here is almost certainly a guy: he uses a pen name that is the name of a Sengoku period general, Ujiie Tozen 氏家ト全, and previously wrote "My Little Sister's Going Through Puberty" (Imouto wa Shishunki 妹は思春期). There is some wishful thinking going on here.

For those interested in the voices, or in keeping the names of the characters straight, I've made a characters/seiyuus page with pics of the characters and their seiyuus, and info about the seiyuus.

I just finished watching the first episode. Among all the new series that I've watched so far, SYK is the only one that caught my attention. I find the characters very likable including the normal male protagonist. The conversation about the owner of the wallet almost killed me. XD

Oh boy, Kobayashi Yuu is voicing the seemingly crazy and perverted teacher, this is going to be awesome! And I'm a bit surprised about Omigawa Chiaki voicing the judo girl, I can't wait to hear her in that role.

This was an okay opener. The humor was hit and miss, with more misses than hits. The sex humor seemed forced more often than not, but some of the jokes were pretty funny. Shino is my favorite character so far. Suzu is annoying. Those "Little kid" jokes made at her didn't do it for me. Aria is without a doubt the most perverted out of the bunch. She seems pretty interesting. The male lead was nothing special. Overall, an okay episode.

By the end of this episode, I've probably facepalmed about 40 times over for each time an innuendo was cracked and seemingly "forced to be funny". And if different people have different humour tastes then this is something not of my fancy. It was actually alright for the first 8 minutes but when they started cracking the same old sexual jokes every 10 seconds it got a bit too much for my brain to process...plus it made me think; "why the heck are all the girls in this school so F-ing horny"... I did think the quirky style of humour of this series draw similarities to seitokai no ichizon but I definitely found the latter more genuinely funny.

My problem with the sex humor in this series is that there's no lead up to it. They seemingly started spouting sex puns unprovoked. IDK, it seemed to come out of left field more often than not. For example, the nail biting scene. Aria says that habits are hard to break, and then, for some reason, brings up something sex related. IDK, it seemed like they were putting sex jokes where they really didn't belong at times.
