Does it count as a manga? Either way, I'm totally pumped for it. I read all five books back to back, and am totally stoked about the sixth book. The movie, I'm pumped about too. Just worried about it, since I believe its supposed to diverge from the books at around book 3.
However, the new trailer should be out soon. It'll be released when the Facebook fan page hits 100,000 fans, and as of 11 minutes ago, its only 1000 away. Should be out by the time I wake up. |

The trailer will be released regardless of the FB reaching page 100K.... It's a comic series... by Bryan Lee O'Malley, since there is no desu or anything like that in his name it is not manga but you figured that out right? Anyway Chris Evans is in it so I am watching it regardless |

I need to read the books, but they're hard to find now, at least in the libraries.
Gotta buy them, I guess. But I dunno about the movie, how would battling Evil Boyfriends translate into live action? If the movie has no spoilers, I'll watch. |

It looks very interesting and funny. Not just your typical comic related movie. I like how they actually use words as sound effects and other stuff, it's a cool new idea.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
Trailer here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NUBVcit5VM Looks like a good attempt to integrate video game/anime imagery into a live action move (well, Shaolin Soccer had a few moments). |

I really did love this film and it really pains me that the movie is getting so little attention. It may atleast become something of a cult favorite... Though frankly i didn't much care for the choice of lead actor; not sure what it was exactly but i just plain didn't care for him. |

So I finally got around to watching this film a while ago and thought I'd share my thoguhts. Now I continue to hear praise for this movie and I'm completely baffled by it. Some have called it an itelligent movie beyond all the "har har videogame refrences" and visuals and I can do nothing but laugh at such a remark. The first ten minutes of High Fidelity say more about life, love, relationships and meaningful pop-culture than Scott Pilgrim could ever even attempt to squeak out via the chinless apparition that is Michael Cera.
Overall I hate, hate, hated this movie. It is, from top to bottom, poorly written hipster bullcrap garbage. I guess I would best describe it as Shitty Canadian Fooly Cooly. The character Scott seems awkward to me. He feels so bland and uninteresting, despite him being something of an airhead. I still feel like he is there as author/audience wish fulfillment, like the film is trying to force me into thinking he's cool. I also don't get the 7 evil exes. I don't understand it at all. Like, I get that it's trying to be a send up to video games, but even the worst excuse plot still has some logic. People have told me "It's a metaphor for the emotional baggage Ramona has. She's being haunted by the evil exes because she's letting herself be haunted by them." I'm not seeing it. I also hate the video game and pop culture references here. It feels really juvenile to me. Its like "Hey! You sure like video games, right? I do too! Lets be friends!" Its just feels like the most shallow way to try to appeal to me. This movie isn't funny in the least either, at least not for me. I feel like people are being blinded by the video game references and the idea that this movie is about them, that this movie gets them. I can't really think of a movie about the hipster crowd of our generation that really 'gets' them. I don't think it appeals to hipster sensibilities except in the most shallow of ways. I just don't get this movie. I don't get the appeal. Can anyone explain this thing to me?
