dogtato problems mplayer/vlc on debian

i am running debian and installed mplayer packages from and vlc from debian. some series play well, i.e. naruto, miteru, and others work well. however other series, like dogtato, fail. it says the header is corrupt or not an avi etc, however when i run it through bittorrent again the checksum is ok.... i dont have access to ffshow or gspot since its linux...

thanks gong
