Spent the morning finishing the novel Tobira no Soto vol 1, which came highly recommended and starts out with a decent premise, but the execution is so juvenile that it'd be too embarrassing to discuss. It's not actively painful, but I regret getting the entire 3-volume series.

There are two series besides Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon that left me with a very good impression this year:
Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei is a fantasy action series that started this year as a bunko, but is already complete here. There is a lot of explanation about the setting and an awesome main character. I love these type of protagonists. A little "cheater" with a strong personality. Approved by Kawahara Reki (author of SAO and AW). And it already sold more than 60k copies in the second volume. Yahari Ore no Seishun LoveComedy wa Machigatteiru. is a series that is about "lonely" students. Something like Haganai, but it's not like they (at least the protagonist) want to be a "riajyu". If you were a person who was always the last one to be chosen in the P.E. classes, was always alone and way behind the others in excursions, you'll surely identify yourself with the protagonist. And it's very fun too. Even if it can remember of some of your traumas. This one is approved by Hirasaka Yomi (author of Haganai). |

Anyone here has read "Boku to Kanojo no Game Sensou"? I saw this title on my local Kinokuniya and the illustration... oh wow, Happou Bijin's art, looks delicious.
I'm curious about this.

I've made a Google+ page for light novels, which I'm still perplexed as to how to use, but hey. If you're bored you can follow it or something.

Hmmm, and I was just about to suggest creating a new thread to discuss the results Not just to brag or jeer or say "I told you so", but to actually talk about series that most of us never even heard of before Like for example the four new comers in the top 10 Enkan Shoujo, Okalt (do you mean Occult?) Logic, Idolizing! and Ame no Hi no Iris. ANd personally I'm rather interested in Kokoro Connect Series.
Edit: Oh yeah, totally called Buriki for number 1 Illustrator of this year What about Author? I'm guessing Kamachi again given his exposure from the article?

Lol, IS is freefalling to 45th place. Not unexpected though. Pretty surprised that ame no hi no iris manage to get that high being a non-serialized series, although I admit it's a very good and touching story. Would have missed it if doraneko didn't recommend it though due to minimal amount of hype of that title lol.
Never heard about okalt logic and idolizing too. Are those two series good? |
