And as far as the linker core discussion, they said in Ep 3 that Nanoha's wounds weren't serious; just that her core had shrunken to an unusual state. I can imagine there would be pain and shock about losing a core (or having it damaged), but not life-threatening. Humans can live with having certain other organs removed, too, like appendixes and kidneys. |

Anyway so that we are all clear on this...draining linker core dose not kill but cutting someone open and ripping it out will indeed kill you.

Hey guys! What do we know about canon automaton usage? I know Precia used Golems, then Jail had a whole series of droids. How do the Raptors from Caliburn Electronics fit into this?
Also, what kinds of droids did Jail have and what were their capabilities? Any idea of when each model was rolled out?

It's Caledfwlch Techniques--not Caliburn Electronics. :k
And Raptors appear to be somewhat different from the automatons used by Precia and Jail, in that they need a command center with people giving them commands.

Well, Jail's drones actually had a couple of modes. He could give them orders directly, but he could also put them into a mode where they act on their own, based on previous commands. Raptors just do the former, for now, which makes a bit of sense since it looks like they want to sell them to the TSAB.
But in general, the Bureau can make complicated devices with AI's, and robots seems easily doable, so I'd presume most anything below a certain level is possible. Lastly, Jail had three (or four) different drones. Type 1's were the simplest and least powerful, with some levitation capability and could fire energy beams. Could also interface with other technology to take control of it. Type 2's were more like an aero fighter, with missiles as well as energy blasts. Type 3's were huge sphere's (bigger than a human) that had increased power and appendages, but were otherwise similar to Type 1's. The last one, people unofficially call Type 4's. They seem to have cloaking technology and bladed melee attacks. |

I do not see why that cannot be considered an indication that she can cast it. Panzerschild seems like the default shield spell for all Ancient Belka practitioners, so the other Panzer-family spells may be the default Ancient Belkan spells of other types.

We also never saw Chrono use Delayed Bind in either of the original TV seasons, but we know he had it when he sparred with Fate in the manga set between them.
Taking Battle of Aces as canonical, Shamal has a couple of wind manipulation spells she never found a reason to use, and Gears of Destiny shows that Yuuno has a shooting spell that he was always foregoing in favor of some other spell. It's also unlikely that Yuuno doesn't know the Binding Shield trick Nanoha revealed in ViVid, or that Chrono and Fate don't know Shoot Barret as the first step towards learning more advanced spells like Stinger Ray and Photon Lancer. Especially since Shoot Barret is explicitly described as the most basic shooting spell taught to ALL Midchildan mages. |

Well it's a good argument considering Signum revelaed two never seen spells/attacks in her second duel with Nanoha at the ned of StrikerS manga. I wonder if she already knew those spells or developed them during the course of her life with Hayate and the Aces.

Likewise, we can't tell whether or not Vita is the only Wolkenritter to know "Magical Prison" (Gefangis de Magi?).
Vita only trapped and attacked Nanoha because she didn't know about her connection to the Bureau. After that, the Wolkenritter attempted to avoid the TSAB mages rather than hunt them for linker cores, so they had no reason to use the spell. At least not until Nanoha and Fate caught them in Hayate's hospital room. Shamal only used a jamming field then, but perhaps the TSAB would have detected another Magical Prison. |
