It's tough to remember what anime started airing in 2004.

Best OP: Re: Cutie Honey, Beck, GITS SAC2, Kaleidostar 2nd OP
Best ED: Gankutsuou, Shinobuden, Keroro Gunsou

Based on the anime I've seen this year, I think the best OPs and EDs would be...

OP for
Kujibiki Unbalance
School Rumble
To Heart ~Remember My Memories~
Kannadzuki no Miko

Ed for
Sensei no Ojikan
Ninin ga Shinobuden
Kannadzuki no Miko
Yakitate!! Japan

There are probably other good ones, but I either don't remember or I haven't seen the show.

Here are my votes--looking back, I can't believe some of these were in 2004, feels like they aired years ago but timestamps don't lie...I must be getting old...:

Best opening: Innocent Starter (Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha) - I rabu Mizuki Nana, so this was an easy choice

Runner-up opening: 2x2 Shinobuden, Tsukuyomi

Best ending: tie between Konomini (fanservice + good character designs + catchy song = good) and Sensei no Ojikan ("Don't Stop the Music" also catchy as hell)

Runner-up ending: School Rumble, Jubei-chan Second Season

Best Openings

1. Kono Minikuku mo Utsukushii Sekai aka: (This Ugly and Beautiful World) wonderfull animation + great song -
-to bad the series was somewhat of a let down cause i love this opening-

2. Tenjou Tenge- ( i dont know why alot of people hate this , its really good)

3. Samurai 7 ( you you tell they spent ALOT of work on this opening animation + it has a amazing song wth it)

4. + WERIDIST opeing of 2004 goes to ---Tsukuyomi Moon Phase---

5. Midori no Hibi ( girl instead on a hand , that said its a good show and this opening is nice)

6. Elfen Lied ( different but good)

Best Endings
1. Tsukuyomi Moon Phase ( ep.7 ending , love it!!)
2.Kono Minikuku mo Utsukushii Sekai (This Ugly and Beautiful World) . catchy song! + great animation
3.Elfen Lied ( love the song nice!)
4.-Tenjou Tenge ( love it )

Plus i'm not sure it it will count but the Preview for the anime -AIR- had a good opening/ending song

other that are not 2004- but are some of the best ever

Chrno Crusade - i think this is easly one of the best opeings ever because a great opeing + ending should have a amazing song + great animation and this does it well ( note i've only seen 2 eps cause i heard about the ending........)

+ the ending is Amazing.. wow GONZO sure to put alot into making good openings and endings

Full Metal Alchemist - first opening
