The USGS says it actually doesn't look like a big wave this time.

Even so, I hope all our Indonesian readers are all right. Same with anyone from elsewhere in SE Asia.

Guess this forum isn't very sarcasm-sensitive. My bad then. I meant to bash altogether the "fiercely secular" France refusing to recognize civil gay marriage performed in another country, which serves a bad implication in regards to its stance on the couple's religious ceremony held on the French soil, and more importantly the fact how the comment section shows that fundie christians and muslims agreeing with each other regarding the issue, inconsistent with a certain particular motion saying that Islam and LGBT are interlocked together in bringing down western civilization. Oh, and socialism as well.

On the other news, I think SE Asia will start yelling "FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!" soon : http://ph.news.yahoo.com/ph--chinese...zambales-.html

@andyjay729 : I had been hearing about a quake happening somewhere in the country before I confirmed it in internet. It's rather weaker then 2006, which was a full bar in richter scale, and its wave doesn't seem to have reached beyond Sumatra. Still worrisome, however

As through this world you travel, you'll meet some funny men.
Some will rob you with a six-gun, and some with a fountain pen.

Ah, I thought it sounded way out of character --- yeah, the internet sucks for dry satire. You had me going through your post history and thinking "eh??? did someone hijack his account? pranked by leaving his browser open?" Plus I was unaware France had taken such an ass-backwards stance...

We don't recognize polygamy either.

I don't know what you're getting at. We don't recognize any religious marriage. The Pope could come here to perform the ceremony between a man and a woman, and he'd still have to be elected mayor (or at least city councilman) to make it stick, legally speaking.

A bill that allows Tennessee public school teachers to teach alternatives to mainstream scientific theories such as evolution will become law this month after the governor refused to sign or veto the measure, The Washington Post’s Valerie Strauss reports. Supporters of the law say its goal is to encourage healthy skepticism among students. “Critical thinking, analysis fosters good science,” Robin Zimmer, a biotechnology consultant and affiliate of a creationist organization, wrote in the Nashville Tennessean in March.

It's a civil marriage as well as a religious one. It's already a civil marriage by the time they came to France, and should there be any legal standing regarding performing religious ceremony of French soil, I sure didn't know. Before running into this article, I didn't know that France doesn't recognize same sex marriage being performed in the country, nor one done in another country by a French citizen, which is the case here. That's just unfortunate for a "fiercely secular" country.

That isn't actually the real issue for energy/environmental regulators. The real issue is that the are swapping carbon/lethal emissions over-the-counter, tying them to energy and raw material contracts and screwing with the prices.

How about issuing emissions-tax holidays for those companies that burn down the "investment banks" of Wall Street?
