*shrug* personally I still think WW3 (Vol20-22) is the best LNs in Indexverse thus far. Or the first 3 (Vol1-3). That's probably just me though.

If it's just this part, that opinion is pretty common I think, at least for a few people here ... though I'd add 19 with it (that's just me though).

You mean the climax of the story is the best in the series ?!

Well, no? Some climaxes... can fail.

*sees mountainous corpse pile of failed anime and manga and light novels that ended with bad taste*

Yeah, and it takes 400 years of silence before the prophets broke out again in the New Testament.

My point is, the climax being the best is suppose to be the norm, and not a surprise =_=

I know, I'm just (snarking) making a reference to the 400 year gap in the Bible between the Old Testament and the New Testament.

Easy, no illustration like "pure" light novel(for some people, the difference that divide between a LN and your average novel is just this) and setting is very much like your average western detective novel(the "client" come asking for help instead of the protagonist mysteriously keep stumbling upon a case, reader's avatar doing all the clue searching and idea throwing instead of the main detective).

Well his Individual volumes sold pretty much like the other popular series like OreImo and BakaTest give or take a few thousand.

But the sheer number of books he put out easily overwhelms the competition and putting him at the top.
Well yes, but to be able to put that amount of volume without letting his writing quality "significantly" degraded is something in itself. Usually author will either get a writer block if they have to keep the quality of their writing(Haruhi) or the quality of their writing will go down, sometimes from overusing the same plot advancement(most harem title, arguably Hidan no Aria).

The first point seems easy enough to make, but the second point is a bit too specific as it relates to a very particular type of story instead of a general definition.

You mean like for example; RomCom -> School Event -> Enemy Interrupt -> Fight Ensured?

*cough*

Currently rereading Volume 20. My impressions.

Prologue - AC technology pisses on everyone elses tech.

Chapter 1:
1 - Hamazura is one lucky bastard.
2 - Everyone thinks AC tech is monsterous. Accelerator is a monster.
3 - The Kamijou Faction is treated as an actual Faction and not just a figment of some paranoid magicians imagination. Oh, and Kamijou knows his shit now.
4 - England and France at war? Business as usual there then.
5 + 6 - Kamijou starts MacGyvering.
7 - Kamijou carves out a 3 km trench in the earth with nothing but a glove and some simple physics. And he's supposed to be a near drop out in AC?
8 - Middle Schooler trying to be sexy. Comes off as slutty. Do Not Want.
9 - Itsuwa has psychic powers or something, cause she can feel some bitch coming onto her crush a continent away.
10 + 11 + BtL 1 - Nothing much except foreshadowing and Misaka worrying.

Chapter 2:
1 - Kamijou and Lessar continue to be genius.
2 - Hamazura continues to be luckier than a man has any right to be. Maybe he stole it from Touma?
3 - AC continues to spank Russia with overwhelming tech.
4 - More simple solutions from the hamfisted would be seductress.
5 - Carissa continues to be GAR as hell.
6 - Fiamma solos everything and everyone.

And that's as far as I got.

I would like to take a moment aside though, and point out certain things.

Ordinary people - AC tech is scary as fuck.
Ordinary people - Accelerator is a monster.
Magicains - AC tech is worrying
Magicains - Accelerator is a monster.
AC people - Technology... Business as usual.
AC people - Accelerator is a monster.

Accelerator - Hero= Scary ass mother fucker.
Magicains - IB = Scary ass power
AC people - IB = WTF is this shit?
Ordinary people - What a nice young boy.

I find the disconnect laughable.

The Kamijou Faction is taken seriously? I don't even recall it ever being mentioned

That 'simple physics' involves a Hypersonic plane... >.>

doesn't everyone have one of those? (troll coment of the hour)

I happen to also love that portion of the story ... Shiage (Lucky and Normal) Accelerator (Constantly Trolled and Down Right Beast) Kamijou Touma (Unlucky and only as strong as his oponent allows him to be....)

What I really love about this story is that there is always some nut-job that thinks "All right Accelerator is nothing special i got his number right here, with this new trick.... I'm Definately not gonna get killed like the last 10750 or so people that pissed him off .....

I haven't quite figured out yet, but 25% of it involves moments like:

(Hm? Wait. If almost everyone here has such a clear bodily characteristic, maybe something in the food here makes your breasts grow!! I-if that’s true, this is a Nobel Prize level discovery!!)

“I had been curious as to what kind of person was maintaining those 103,000 grimoires, but I never expected he would do so with her attached to his head. The mystic secrets of the Orient truly are a sight to behold.”

“W-wait!! Don’t strip!! Keep your clothes on!! Using seductive techniques with no goal is nothing more than an endless erotic hell!!”

“Really, though. I was shocked when you managed to bring that pursuit helicopter down with only that net gun. You really must have a talent for that kind of thing to get the net caught in the rotor like that.”

“This exhibitionist shotacon girl actually sees us as perverts.”
“Yeah nyaa.”
“You’re right.”

i actually really like scenes like this... if Kamijou was a high school student outside of Academy City, he wouldn't be able to do any of those. i love scenes that show that Kamijou IS an Academy Citizen after all. like these moments in the earlier volumes:

(…It’s the opposite. How can you eat vegetables that were grown in dirt that could have had industrial waste and who knows what else mixed in?)

That difference in values was one of the walls between those within Academy City and those without, but Kamijou simply pulled “How to Raise Cats” from the shelf without thinking on it any further.
