Well... for what it's worth, there is supposed to be a distinction between a "profession" and a mere job.
From the Oxford English Dictionary: profession A "professional" used to be someone who was "learned", for example, a lawyer, doctor, engineer or even a teacher, that is, someone who required formal training to perform his role. More importantly, it used to be considered a "calling" — that is, a profession was a vocation, and not just something one did for money. |

What's your Profession/your planned course to take up in college?
I am currently pursuing a degree in teaching. To be more specific, TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) Your Current Status. I am in my third year, which means I am going to be a full-fledged teacher next year. What made you choose it? Because I got a full government scholarship and I ain't letting it slip away. Are you happy with it? Hell yeah, apart from the boring methodologies, the school visits are fun. How do you see yourself in the future? I am probably going to be one of those cool teachers that does not recite school rules every 5 minutes. But if they happen to commit serious crimes...*prepares whip, muahahahahaha*

What's your Profession/your planned course to take up in college?
College? That was back when there were still dinosaurs walking the Earth. Currently I'm working as a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Direct Digital Controls (DDC) Engineer. See that thermostat on your office, or classroom wall? When you go to change the temperature set point, there's an entire process that goes on behind the scenes to get that temperature you want. Plus, there's a lot of automation going on even when nobody is in the room. That's me, figuring out what air conditioning device gets controlled how how to control it. This is part of the Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Energy Management Systems (EMS) that have been implemented over the past few years. Your Current Status. I just got a massive raise with more room to grow in the future. My company has made it quite clear that they do not want to let me go. Work has been pretty busy as we do a lot of commercial buildings, schools, and military projects. What made you choose it? Fate, and some blind luck. Are you happy with it? Yeah, it's a pretty neat field to be in. It's quite fascinating to see how everything goes together, plus I get to do a lot of AutoCAD, which I enjoy. How do you see yourself in the future? Right now I get to completely design the jobs we get. In the future, I think I'd like to get into the programming side was well. Endless "Professional" Soul

[QUOTE=GenjiChan;4226601]What's your Profession/your planned course to take up in college?
I currently work as a Sales Assistant in a rural trading store. Last month I finally completed my application and am simply awaiting a vacancy in my chosen role. I chose Intelligence Analyst. Your Current Status. Awaiting my marching orders. :3 What made you choose it? I originally wanted to be a normal soldier but I felt it wasn't my true calling despite my dreams as a child of wanting to be a soldier. When I read the role descriptions of Intelligence Analytical Operations I really saw myself as that role. Going over and gathering enemy intelligence to help plan operations and hopefully save lives is very appealing. Are you happy with it? We'll see how it goes but it pays nearly twice as much as my current job WITH room for promotion and advanced training. How do you see yourself in the future? Hopefully either a Senior NCO or a newly commissioned Officer in the Intelligence Corps with a bright future ahead of me.

What's your Profession/your planned course to take up in college?
In the immediate future, Aged Care. After that Nursing or perhaps something in Pathology/Hematology. Your Current Status. Student. What made you choose it? I'm kind of sick of I.T., which I have been doing for the last 10 years or so. Also due to the amount of time I spent in Hospital I came to enjoy the environment sort of, and I thought the nurses did good work, nd since there is a shortage of nurses in Australia I decided to try and go for it. Are you happy with it? Dunno yet, I'm anxious about various future possibilities though, such as screwing up the course, or being overwhelmed. How do you see yourself in the future? Hopefully working as a nurse! Or in a laboratory somewhere playing with blood.
