As most have mentioned, the Shinkai animes. Aside from those, Gundam 00 movie and 2nd Macross Frontier movie are in my list for most beautiful when it comes to animation and all that laser spamming.

Just watched the remastered version of Gundam F91 last night and it's pretty breathtaking at time.

Spoiler for Here's one of the more action filled scenes redone in 1080p:

Not gonna say it's the most beautiful anime, but it's kind of stuck in my mind right now.

Technically not the prettiest anime I ever saw but I just found this scene from Yosuga no Sora is one of the most memorable.

If we're talking about graphics here, then I'm going to put forth Makoto Shinkai's 5 Centimeters per Second and Children who chase lost voices from deep below as the most artistic. Outside of that, Gundam UC is superbly animated, as well.
