Fighting Anime/Manga
Heya folks, i hope you can help me in finding some nice fighting Animes/Mangas. I want something like "Historys Strongest Disciple Kenichi, The Breaker(:New Waves), Karate Shoukoushi Kohinata Minoru" maybe even something like "The Legend of Maian, Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu".
The first examples are ones where the protagonist is at first weak, gets beaten up by guys who are stronger than him. Then he wants to get stronger and stronger for personal reasons/feelings. The second ones aren't really like the first ones but i am also interested in them. Basically what gets me excited on the second ones are the "hidden" powers the protagonists have. Both characters have at some point of time in the story the "devilish" look in their faces and are doing evil things. Hope you guys can give me some good suggestions, i really am bored currently(holidays ftw!) |

Anime:
Grappler Baki Shura no Toki Air Master Tenjho Tenge Katanagatari Hajime no Ippo Berserk (I recommend the manga over the anime) Manga: Ares: Great manhwa about a mercenary and his quest for revenge. Vinland Saga: Vikings...do i really need to say more? Berserk: Best manga ever. Check it out if you havent already. Ubel Blatt: Berserk meets Zelda. Pretty good imo. Shamo: Very dark story about a karate fighter. Wont spoil by saying anything else. Worst: Good manga, delinquents fighting ands lots of characters. Crows:Prequel to Worst. (No need to read in any order) Vagabond: Manga about Miyamoto Musashi. Gamaran: Swordfighting and other styles. Aiki: Main character uses aikido and hes a very unique character. QP: Another delinquent manga. Koukou Tekkenden Tough and its sequel Tough: Mixed martial arts. |

Noblesse is also one of my favorites which is also a fighting Manhwa. The Breaker(and The Breaker: New Waves) are by far in my opinion the best fighting Manga! More examples would be: Veritas, Holyland, Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi, Shi ga Futari wo Wakatsu Made, Zen Martial Arts Academy, Karate Shoukoushi Kohinata Minoru. I think i know some more but i don't remember the titles atm. Hope this will give you some ideas on what i like and what not! |

The anime that is currently airing called "Kingdom" is very enjoyable and may fit what you are looking for. The main character is a lowly servant boy, with the story revolving around him rising the ranks of ancient Chinese society to become the "world's greatest general." The story is great, the fights are hot-blooded old school anime fun, and the setting is fantastic.
Also, I'm not one to dismiss a show based on its artwork, so I suppose we have a differing outlook from that perspective, but you should really reconsider Hajime no Ippo. That is one of the most enjoyable series I've ever had the pleasure of watching. |

Man, you're picky lol.
Are you already reading Naruto/Bleach/One Piece/Ao no Exorcist/Fairy Tail/Nurarihyon no Mago/Hunter x Hunter? They pretty much fit your first criteria and are long running. Other Manga: Tenjo Tenge: Manga version, far superior to the anime. Air Gear: Starts out as sports-ish, but pretty much turns into super powered fights, same mangaka as Tenjo Tenge and both the fighting and art are way better. Blood and Steel: If you like the Breaker and Veritas, you should like this, although the art is a bit more on the realistic side at first. Ruroni Kenshin: A classic, fits your second criteria more, kind of like a grand daddy to Gamaran. 666 Satan: Fits both your first and 2nd criteria to the T. Black Cat: Second criteria Full Metal Alchemist: First and 2nd criterias Mahou Sensei Negima: First and 2nd criterias, but it's also a harem with a lot of fanservice and comedy. Psyren: First + 2nd, as well as some survival manga thrown in. Rosario vampire: First + 2nd, but starts off more of a romance/harem/comedy, but it's pretty much a battle manga by the time it hits part 2. Shaman King: First + 2nd Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicles: First + 2nd Gantz: First + 2nd, but also fairly realistic art, as well as extreme violence and death Aflame Inferno: Same author/artist combo as Legend of Maian, fits your 1+2 criteria Deadman Wonderland: First + 2nd + survival manga. Witch Hunter: First + 2nd. |
