If you want something old and new at the same time that is high quality, look for Space Battleship Yamato 2199. There are only 10 episodes out so far, with another 4 due out on Blu-Ray in two months. But I've heard it called the best remake (possibly) ever made.

As an example, the trailer for Chapter 4 (due in theaters next month).

People, try not to gang up on him.
And this is Suggestions thread, discussing merits/demerits of shows would go in another sub-forum.
Honestly, this serves him right.
I refuse to take a person who asks "What happened to all the high-quality anime?" seriously. It's like he's mocking those series that do not fall under his "high-quality" category.

Any recommendations? Seriously, it seems like their just releasing animes now to just release them...
Well sorry about that. Not all anime series can cater to your standards.

Apologies for being rude, but I really dislike the type of people who ask the same kind of question this thread is titled with.

Japanese anime is made for the Japanese and not for one person.

Dang it Avalon, you c(XD LOL)-block Shirou and Reinforce, but don't protect his mind in other ways? What is wrong, you woman?
Friendship, be made! Magical power, gather! Starlight Breaker.... this world!
