Mid-Series Romance
Hi all,
This is in regards to my previous thread: http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=116948 I have watched many of the suggested series, and I really did like them all, but... The specific thing I'm looking for is, that the main character gets a relationship with "Who-Ever" (heterosexual though xD) in the middle, or at least during the series. This is why I put up SAO as an example. I'm not fond of the "traditional" setting in anime --> Lovers get together at the end of the series, and you should just fantasise a happily ever after... Is there any anime with this included, or is SAO "One-of-a-Kind" on that field? Greetz, Laiin! |

Romeo x Juliet - just like in SAO there was a scene where they lived together in the same house. That's the closest I can think of from what I recommended.
Hmmm... in Inuyasha main couple gets together at the end but series have MC's ex-girlfriend We get to see a bit of their past relationship and besides they didn't fully give up on each other either so we do get some hugs and kisses here and there. However, Kikyou is sadly hated by many so I duno how you will view their relationship. For me personally she is one of the best characters who has lots of things going on for her. You need to look at things from her perspective and try to understand reasons behind her actions. If you won't consider those things, you'll end up hating her like many others and for wrong reasons. Because to be frank, some of her actions do seem nasty if you don't think deeper. So yeh those 2 are the closest I can think of. R + J is a better choice for what you are searching though. I'll try to risk and suggest the following... Seirei No Morbito. Those are not romance orientated series. However, main heroine Balsa and hero Tanda have very close relationship and at some point lived together. A lot of characters encourage them to get married in the series. So yeh, it is not like SAO with romance and stuff but the relation they have feels a lot like of a properly married couple. That sense vise it gives a bit of SAO vibe. They also are both taking care of a boy (in SAO it was Yui) so yeh. Main story is the following... Bodyguard Balsa was entrusted to protect a young prince Chagum who is hunted by his own father because he got possessed by a bad spirit. Series are deep and follow their life while they are on a run away. Though there are many other things going on, I find this series unique and not like many other anime out there. It has depth. Hope this helps.

Bakemogatari starts the relationship quite early, probably one of the earliest in anime , and keeps going plenty past that.
Clannad isn't quite mid series, but all of Clannad: After Story is after they got together.

Busou Renkin: The romance starts in the second half and the couple gets together before the end.
Eden of the East might be what your looking for as well. An 11 episode series with two sequel movies That's all I got for now. I'll post again if I can think of any others.
