The radical/militant "Japanophile" types you see on Sankaku, 4chan, JapanToday and occasionally on youtube are wholly against anime, JPOP, games, Japanese food, J-culture being enjoyed by Chinese and Koreans. While the radical fans I mentioned probably won't like Ishihara for what he is doing to the anime industry, but somehow on the same page on views of race and eugenics that Ishihara is known for saying publicly. |

^That statement is wrong. Politics and corporate parties breed real shits, not Futaba, 2 or 4chan.
Both are just a collection of general anger and outrage at how society functions and the general reaction against it - all rolled into one board.

An unsolvable side effect, if you will. I'm not against the existence of chans (Futaba and 4chan, I have little experience with how bad 2chan may be so won't talk about that), and I know they can also be some great sources for happiness. I just have to epic face palm every time I see some reports on racism, sexism, xenophobia, pro-piracy* etc. coming from what are known as some of the deepest shitholes on the Internet (at least certain parts of them, like /b/). And when I say shit, I don't mean legitimate concerns like politics. I mean things like the racism sezen alluded to, stuff that you would never tell to anyone in real life if you don't want to be cornered in a dark alley soon. Well, most people anyway. *pro-piracy as in, "I can download anything I want for free and guess what? I'm entitled to it! So copyright holders should treat me just like a paying customer!" |

Meh...same thing with Korea and their virulent anti Japan sentiments when it comes to pop-culture...see that Gangnam Style sour grapes comment after it was found Japan wasn't receptive to it. That's what you get when you have pop-cultre war between both sides

It's funny that I'm remembering this, considering I started watching Chuunibyou yesterday.

I know for sure this group of boys that had chuuichibyou, they would play Pokemon. And by play, I mean act out the actual Pokemon themselves, shouts and attacks and everything. And take turns being trainers sometimes, collecting badges and stuff. No video games or trading cards. They were the Pokemon.
It's cute now that I think back to it. |
