Well yes. My bad, by "animators" I meant the whole team in charge of turning Magi into an anime.

Who said anything about animators? We're talking about the whole studio, the writing team and the director in particular.

I think what he meant was that the decision to have the anime as "one of those series made solely to promote the manga, with no intention of adapting the whole story" was made on a higher production level, rather than the directorial level (though I'm just guessing).

We don't know for sure. That's only speculation. That's only one aspect of the problem anyway. Even if they were told by the higher-ups they had no intention of producing a second season, the director was likely the one who made the decision to go this far into the manga and make an original ending. I doubt he was told by somebody else to rush to the Zagan arc. That's entirely the director and the writers' job. And wasn't A-1 pictures part of the production committee? I think it's fair to blame them.

Anyway, no matter what happened (we'll probably never know for sure), they definitely dun goofed.

Meh. I'm done for now....this got boring REAL fast.

And I'm a total hypocrite for saying this, but I think I can see why people are bitching about the anime compared to the manga now. I totally get it now.

They could've just kept going with the manga material and ended it at least coherently. Disappointing....I really liked this series until it became the Alibaba show. Yes, I know he's an MC, but isn't this supposed to be more Aladdin's story?

And I don't like the fact that the anime directors felt like they had to dumb him down in the anime. Fans are not as stupid as you think, Anime director-san....

Maybe they should've focused on Sin and his crew. I'd watch a spinoff of Sinbad anyday.

Implying that nothing could go wrong there as well...

The same situation applied to Ao no Exorcist, so you really can't be mad at that.

Magi otoh is a weekly manga which had plenty of material available when the anime started, material that the anime than run though at a blinding pace losing a lot of charm that the manga had. The manga gave the anime a perfect point to end the season with, if they felt it wasn't enough material than they could've padded it out, if the writer and team was talented (lol) smartly done filler can improve on things. For instance I really liked what the A-1 Team did with the opening chapter for Ao no Exorcist, they made it 2 episodes instead of one with new stuff, was well done imo.

The Magi anime could've ended with another 90 chapters available to animate if it was planned properly, instead they burned through a lot and are throwing in an anime original end as well.

The sales falling off a cliff for Magi speaks for itself, seems more like the fujoshis were more interested in the event tickets vol 1 and 2 had than the actual show. Look @ Jojo for another show with a vol 1 even ticket that had a falloff in the next volume, nowhere near as bad as Magi.

They dun goofed up, but at least the manga is really popular which I guess was the intention. But hey we can get some anime original Alibaba POV movies in the future for the anime franchise, can't wait.

I aint even mad tier

FMA, AnE, Soul Eater

They dun goofed up tier

Claymore, Magi

I'm expecting Shingeki no Kyojin to have an original end, fair enough considering it's a monthly manga and it could go on for a long time, also it being quite a big deal means the chances of a reboot happening when the manga finishes up is fairly high.
yeah Shingeki no Kyojin is definitely going to fall in the same trap as this, especially with the author stalling for the past 6 months. I thought that directors (who pretty much have a LOT of say of what material from these original works is put to anime, and how its put to anime) stopped doing crap like this, but It's apparent that this director is just bad this time around. A few years ago it use to be really bad, to the point that I Would just wait till the show is over to make sure they didn't fk up the original material (especially after watching soul eater/claymore)

but yeah, hell even the claymore manga had (and still has) author issues; he really doesn't know where he's going with the story, and has been milking it for YEARS, despite him setting up further storylines that most people have forgotten about! The overall, overeaching plot is what kept me coming back, but once it was apparent that the dude is going to take 7 years to get to that point, (and he's FAAAAAR from ODA in sheer single chapter qulity) I dropped that mange a long time ago. so I kinda think that Claymore should get more of the benefit of the doubt, as far as the directors go, the author of the original content there is the guy who fkdd up

The consequences will never be the same.

And yay, more Kougyoku. You have terrible taste if you're not interested in her, Sinbad.

I'm not sure about Sinbad. He had that stare in him that looked like "I might need to use her" when he looked at Kougyoku at the end.

I can certainly think of a few things I'd enjoy using Kougyoku for.

And... there we have it. While the developments they made up for the anime is not really that absurd (the barrier WAS broken, so an attack is plausible), where the HELL did all those monsters come from? This also means that Alladin and friends won't be getting ambushed, and I loved that part in the manga. Damn you, A1.

LOL Like fetching your slippers and making some tea for you.

The only way you'll get Kougyoku to do anything for you is that you have to first wear a leaf and only a leaf where it would intrigue her the most.

I'm not sure about the manga, and maybe I'm better off being ignorant (ignorance is bliss, afterall), but I'm enjoying the anime as is. Sometimes, I'm a little concerned about clicking on this thread, since the complaints do dampen the enjoyment quite a bit.

They reached the top just to get into yet another difficult fight.
It would be nice to see them win without so much trouble for a change.
Either way, things are getting rather intense as the season finale gets near.
It was nice watching Alibaba fight, even though his skills need a lot more practice.
The war with Sindria and the reasons for it seemed kinda harsh and personal.

I think the entire anime is like this:

Beginning episodes - anime original
Middle episodes - manga plot
Final episodes - anime original

It's a Anime original sandwich. LOL (tho I doubt much would like to eat this...)

And yea, the Sindria reasons for "all-out" (if it is) battle seem to be rushed and randomly placed just because they felt like it.

What's wrong with Female Soldiers? I thought they always had male and female soldiers in Sindria... well, most females as magicians at least, LOL.

there nothing wrong, but first I didn't see no female soldier in the manga and isn't Magi world based on ancient civilization, I'm sure that they didn't recruited woman back there.

ok,.......you got me there, but still back there women didn't had a importante role in the military (except some exclusive exceptions) and I don't see Sinbad making women soldier.

I dunno if the mangaka approved this little detail, but with a small-ish island kingdom like Sindria it makes sense that every available hand must wield a spear, since they are repelling an invasion by sea they can win against an army several times more numerous since not all of them can disembark at once and they have the terrain as an advantage. I would have given them bows or crossbows but they have a higher price tag and need a little more training than "fill da modarfucka with holes!"
