I think what he meant was that the decision to have the anime as "one of those series made solely to promote the manga, with no intention of adapting the whole story" was made on a higher production level, rather than the directorial level (though I'm just guessing).

We don't know for sure. That's only speculation. That's only one aspect of the problem anyway. Even if they were told by the higher-ups they had no intention of producing a second season, the director was likely the one who made the decision to go this far into the manga and make an original ending. I doubt he was told by somebody else to rush to the Zagan arc. That's entirely the director and the writers' job. And wasn't A-1 pictures part of the production committee? I think it's fair to blame them.
Anyway, no matter what happened (we'll probably never know for sure), they definitely dun goofed.

Meh. I'm done for now....this got boring REAL fast.
And I'm a total hypocrite for saying this, but I think I can see why people are bitching about the anime compared to the manga now. I totally get it now. They could've just kept going with the manga material and ended it at least coherently. Disappointing....I really liked this series until it became the Alibaba show. Yes, I know he's an MC, but isn't this supposed to be more Aladdin's story? And I don't like the fact that the anime directors felt like they had to dumb him down in the anime. Fans are not as stupid as you think, Anime director-san.... Maybe they should've focused on Sin and his crew. I'd watch a spinoff of Sinbad anyday.

but yeah, hell even the claymore manga had (and still has) author issues; he really doesn't know where he's going with the story, and has been milking it for YEARS, despite him setting up further storylines that most people have forgotten about! The overall, overeaching plot is what kept me coming back, but once it was apparent that the dude is going to take 7 years to get to that point, (and he's FAAAAAR from ODA in sheer single chapter qulity) I dropped that mange a long time ago. so I kinda think that Claymore should get more of the benefit of the doubt, as far as the directors go, the author of the original content there is the guy who fkdd up |

And yay, more Kougyoku. You have terrible taste if you're not interested in her, Sinbad. |

And... there we have it. While the developments they made up for the anime is not really that absurd (the barrier WAS broken, so an attack is plausible), where the HELL did all those monsters come from? This also means that Alladin and friends won't be getting ambushed, and I loved that part in the manga. Damn you, A1.

The only way you'll get Kougyoku to do anything for you is that you have to first wear a leaf and only a leaf where it would intrigue her the most. I'm not sure about the manga, and maybe I'm better off being ignorant (ignorance is bliss, afterall), but I'm enjoying the anime as is. Sometimes, I'm a little concerned about clicking on this thread, since the complaints do dampen the enjoyment quite a bit.

They reached the top just to get into yet another difficult fight.
It would be nice to see them win without so much trouble for a change. Either way, things are getting rather intense as the season finale gets near. It was nice watching Alibaba fight, even though his skills need a lot more practice. The war with Sindria and the reasons for it seemed kinda harsh and personal.

I think the entire anime is like this:
Beginning episodes - anime original Middle episodes - manga plot Final episodes - anime original It's a Anime original sandwich. LOL (tho I doubt much would like to eat this...) And yea, the Sindria reasons for "all-out" (if it is) battle seem to be rushed and randomly placed just because they felt like it. What's wrong with Female Soldiers? I thought they always had male and female soldiers in Sindria... well, most females as magicians at least, LOL. |

I dunno if the mangaka approved this little detail, but with a small-ish island kingdom like Sindria it makes sense that every available hand must wield a spear, since they are repelling an invasion by sea they can win against an army several times more numerous since not all of them can disembark at once and they have the terrain as an advantage. I would have given them bows or crossbows but they have a higher price tag and need a little more training than "fill da modarfucka with holes!"
