A weekend watch?

As the title says I'm looking for something to watch over the weekend. So basically a shorter series, say 24-26 episodes max but 12-13 is more ideal.

Besides the length I'd also like something that has a good conclusion to it. I don't mean "la la la la la everything is fine and people are all happy!" type thing, but rather no (major) plot holes left open. No like big unanswered question or a ton of talking abut how the ending could be different, etc. A second season is ok though so long as the first wraps up nicely enough as described above.

Finally, I'm also looking for something a bit on the newer side, preferably from 2010 onwards. This is more so to limit the size of the list and help rule out anything I've seen before; I stopped watching anime for awhile around then; than anything else though.

There’s a lot to recommend but I think I’ll just pick Zetsuen no Tempest that ended just recently. Have you seen it? It’s a 24-episode action fantasy series with a very intriguing plot. It has anything you want for from action fantasy anime: good action, characters, story, artwork, animation, and music score (only the OP songs suck imo). If you give it a try, make sure to watch it until episode 10 or so. All in all, a really nice and enjoyable watch. Oh, and the ending is also quite well done imo.

On the off chance you haven't seen it already, Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica (2011) would be highest suggestion, it's great overall series with an excellent ending, the single best Magical Girl series since Nanoha for me easily .

Or the recently finished Shinsekai yori(2012-2013), it's mysterious yet very compelling with a very solid ending to it.

Or looking for something a just little bit less dark than the above series, Steins;Gate (2011) a series dealing with the potential of time travel and potential alternative time lines with a very strong ending to it.

I'll suggest a few less popular items. For shorter series in the 11-13 episode range, how about Usagi Drop (2011), Tsuritama (2012), or for an older choice Kurenai (2008). For a two-cour option, watch Chihayafuru (2012); it's very compelling.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica
Chihayafuru (season 2 in progress)
Bakuman (on a season 3 right now)
Inu Boku SS
Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai (season 3 should be out this year)
Kaichou wa Maid-sama!
Bakemonogatari (It's sequel Nisemonogatari and prequel Nekomonogatari)
Otome Youkai Zakuro
Psycho-Pass (last episode did raise a bit of debate but over all this are string series)
Sakamichi no Apollon
Usagi Drop

Since you didn't say anything about genres... I listed quiet a bit

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I'm going to take a look at a couple for sure.

Also, I have actually seen Madoka, it was probably the last new anime I've actually watched. Though I have re-watched a few series since then...

Usagi Drop is a great choice for a shorter anime.
I always suggest Honey & Clover so I'll do it here too. It has a 24 episode 1st season and a 13 episode second season, however the first season ending is very satisfying.
Kids on the Slope was an enjoyable series from last summer, it's 12 episodes. I loved the setting and the musical focus although I think it could have actually benefited from a longer plotline.
BECK and Planetes are both great 26 episode series with satisfying endings, although they are a little older than your target being made in 2004 and 2003 respectively.
Rec is an extremely short little fun series, being only 9 episodes and each is only half length.
