I feel that this is going to be like Code:Breaker anime, terrible adaptation with really bad sales.
When the trailer showed Yataka who is supposed to make his first appearance in ch 88 I already had my suspicions that even with 2-cours it could end up being fail but 1-cour? They have no time for anything. Opening song:

I don't like the way they totally skipped Arata Hinohara's story but made him repeat "I don't trust anyone", "I was bullied" and "damn Kadowaki". How can I sympathize with him by that?
If I stick with this it'll be just to fill my curiosity on the way they handle all the stuff they've hinted with only one-cour if I have time but... huh. The ED song was good despite the visuals... Akachi and Kannagi are some of my favorite characters but I'm not happy the BL vibes they gave them

Anyway, I watched this episode out of mild curiosity, but nope, it's not my cup of tea. The story would be OK in itself, and as I said above I sympathized with Hinohara a lot, so I might even be interested in seeing how his character develops... But the way the whole thing is presented, it's the kind of fantasy that leaves me absolutely, completely cold. :/ (Also, I'm sure there will be some explanation, but it's kind of weird how nobody seems to notice that the two Aratas look absolutely nothing alike...) |

So they just swapped bodies right? Since everyone still sees him as the same Arata? Well i'm interested enough. Might as well check out the manga instead as everyone is saying this will probably be a bad adaption.

Instead of caring about why he was so miserable it just made him come off as a whiny emo bitch to be completely honest. Still I can see how this could have been interesting so I'll take a gander at the Manga. The anime however? Bleh drop.

Interesting first episode. As far as manga talk is concerned, I'll probably never read it. Reading the manga tends to create a bias towards the anime, which seems to be a common trend nowadays. I'm watching an anime, and I would prefer to judge an anime off its own merits.
So far, what has surprised me is that they originally needed a princess, yet the main character is a guy. Originally, I was concerned that this is heading into heavy BL territory, but so far, I have not seen enough evidence of that. Maybe one or two of the 12 Shinso might exhibit it, but that is only a small portion of the cast. Which now comes back to the princess part. It looks like the series will not have a main heroine, per se, or at least a new princess. I'm wondering how they will resolve this scenario? It leaves a lot of questions, which makes the series interesting so far.

I guess you missed the line where grandma tells Earth!Arata that he looks exactly like her grandson to her. My guess is that only the Aratas' souls switched, not their physical forms. The fact that it looks like their bodies switched as well is probably for the audience's sake not the story's sake.
