Ever since I started watching the show, I've always sort of liked Nagi. She is one of the classic Kugimiya tsundere types, but she's really defined more by laziness than anger, and that makes a difference. The first half with Nagi waking up in the morning, and renting porn (actually a Cinema Snob-level exploitation film) really showed off her cute side, and the second half ended in a really heartwarming way. Making use of your time, time is money, money is... it was a well done metaphor. Ayumu's brief sketch with all the wordplay gags is also something I can get behind. It's at this point I also realize most of the ED songs have been released before in CTMEOY's music (and the website confirms this), and while I've had "Asterisk", this week's ED, for some time, I haven't really listened to it. That may change very soon.
Next week has a Sakuya ED, but focuses on a character who I've heard much about, but never actually seen. Maybe I'll like her next week, maybe I'll have no reaction at all. We'll see. But I am enjoying this so far. |

I'm talking less about the content of the story and more about the content of the character. Everyone's talked up Athena so much, and this will be the first time she has anime exposure in some form, that I'm wondering how my experience with her next week will stack up against the fandom's hype.

Edit: More on topic, Nagi is more or less my favorite character, and I enjoyed this episode. They made some fairly good choices although I'm a little amused that they decided to mix stories hundreds of chapters apart in this episode. Nagi shines more in the story focused chapters I think but this is a pretty good sampling of one-off chapters for her and the presentation is solid, if not great. |

The only thing I can say is that the character we will see is not really "Tennousu Athena". It's just "Alice". That's all. EDIT: after seeing the episode preview, my suspicions have been confirmed. All I have to say is: if you love the series. Go read the manga. But, putting all of this aside, can't wait to see A-tan and Armageddon next week! lol

Nagi's Episode this time, so yes it seems confirmed this is after CTMEOY, also different girls doing the ED, girl in focus it seems (but hina-chan owns the OP it seems). Funny bits & pieces all around like that conversation between maria & Hayate in bed with Nagi between them. Ayumu's small bit with that word play was really funny. but Maria stole the show with that one scene where she was afraid after watching the film too ^^, add to that she was really smart finding a way to make Nagi go to school.
Nice multiplayer Shaup you got there nagi, would have been more epic if it can also play betamax

You know, this episode actually reminded me of the first two seasons of Hayate no Gotoku a bit, which is a good thing. Issues with the layout and what plot it uses aside, the actual content was good stuff. Once they started to dive back into the 4th Wall jokes, it just started to feel like the old days again.

Why do I still try so hard to watch this... =_= ? Even CTMEOY at least had a reasonably interesting mystery story...
Mah whatever, the 'life lesson' at the end was okay and there was some fun to be had with the zombie movie... Ah great, Anime only viewers first real focus on A-tan and it's a freaking oneshot 'filler' story.

The anime already skipped the arc where Athena really shine (and messing up the story and chronology in general). What we have here now is just a shred of her former self named Alice the kid. Alice has her charm, but mostly it's nothing really special. Back to topic: Even though I've been a major detractor of Manglobe's HnG, I really enjoy the animated "Maria's lesson" to Nagi. One of the highlight moment of HnG manga.

At least they are adapting the manga, but I reeeeeally don't understand their problem with End of the world arc...
Wait... MAYBE THEY ARE WAITING TO MAKE THE END OF THE WORLD ARC JUST BEFORE THE ENDING OF THE MANGA! I can dream, can't I? |

I am confused about why they skipped SO much though, they skipped all the important stories as well what lead up to the current situation and I have no idea why... Maybe they will make a movie? Last edited by Silverwyrm; 2013-04-16 at 17:25. |

I dunno, maybe they overused Hina's fear of heights that I can't go HHNNGG over it anymore. Maria on the other hand, I think the cockroach thingy only happened once but never touched on it again. Maybe that's why when she's scared she looks darn cute.
