An anime adaptation of Sayaka Mogi's Horror horror manga has been announced.
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...e-in-the-works There is also the official anime site http://pupa-anime.com/ I heard bad things abut this manga, but I guess if there is a good team working on it those problems can easily go away. Also there are only three volumes released which makes me think this will most likely be an OVA or a movie. |

This was announced as a series, airing in Fall. It's DEEN, which won't thrill people (I don't dismiss them out of hand - they're capable of good work) but the real news is that it's being directed by the great Mochizuki Tomomi. He rarely directs these days, though he is writing the new Rozen Maiden series - he's one of the very best in the business, so my interest level just shot up exponentially.

Mochizuki Tomomi is great director...when he is dealing with personal human issues,he has never directed trashy horror anime so I dont know how he will handle this.Who knows, hopefully he will change script of manga so we will get better better story then the one currently have.

I would argue that there are elements in Zettai Shounen that have carryover with Pupa, but aside from that, Mochizuki has shown himself to be so superb that I wouldn't worry about style with him at all - he's versatile and unbelievably talented, and veteran enough not to be thrown by stylistic challenges.

The money and the right staff is what I'm worried about... Well, more about the latter. I don't expect that the show has much of a budget, but it's possible to create very impressive and creative visuals on a very short budget. Anyway, I hope for the best.
(I haven't seen Sankarea, but while Hakkenden looks good, its visuals are nothing to write home about in terms of style. Of course Hakkenden doesn't need particularly stylish/impressive visuals, but a horror anime would definitely need something creative and impressive, especially if it's on a short budget.) |

Sankareais pretty good example actually since it had limited animation, but it was very stylish and the atmosphere was great.
Again I still have my doubts about the director and whether will he able to create atmosphere suitable for this kind of horror. |

I'm not saying DEEN can't, I'm just saying they don't have a very convincing track record of employing staff who can/want to... But in any case, DEEN can do anything any other studio does if they put their minds to it, so I'll just hope for the best.
