The best first episode of the season so far and probably the most promising TV series in a couple of seasons for me. I just haven't seen anything like this in a while, production-wise, character-wise, story-wise (I'm not seeing Oinarisama similarities myself).
Best thing tho: Mamiko Noto *fapfapfapfapfap* |

I really enjoyed that, it's a bit strange but in a good way, and I look forward to more characters in htis eccentric family being introduced.
Then again, this show pretty much had me when I discovered it was by the same guy who wrote the Tatami Galaxy, and it's a very similar style of humour in this work too. |

I personally wasn't particularly impressed with this episode. I did like it but I didn't find it to be anything special. Certainly not on the same level as the first episode of the Tatami Galaxy.
The visuals were good. Kumeta's style seems to be working well here.

I am a bit confused by what is going on so far but I love how different this series feels. It doesn't try to be normal at all and that's a good thing. Also really love the depiction of Kyoto here. The city feels alive and unique at the same time.

I don't know what P.A.Works did with crowd animations, but it feels like they took the 3D models they used in true tears and rendered them in 2D style, because their movements feel so awkward.
Anyway, in agreement about the three-way action, it's unsettling and makes me want to learn about their relationship. Ultimately, I feel like I'll drop it because the direction didn't leave much of an impression, even though it has such a great worldview set up. |

Yeah I definitely feel like I've been dumped into the middle of a story already in progress. I'm sure that's intentional, but it makes it hard to care about what is happening, for now. Guess we'll see what direction this goes.

The feeling of serenity is quite refreshing. This show is eccentric while staying down to earth at the same time. The dynamics between the three different groups and that incident in the past shall proven to be a great source of story in the upcoming episodes. I love the atmosphere, the offbeat tone, and how sincere the whole episode feels. It also managed to pack in some odd unexpected jokes that will only work in this setting. There's no dramatic tension in this episode, yet every development feels quite intriguing. Being created by the same writer, it reminded me a lot of Tatami Galaxy in the overall mood. The visual style might put some people off, but personally I'm not bothered by it at all.
This show probably won't be a blockbuster due to its lack of mainstream appeal, but will surely be one of the best shows this season

I dont know about you guys, but I thought that characters were very well written and that there motivations and emotions were nicely laid down.It was rather serene and nostalgic episode, whilst having still being very weird.Dialogue was very natural and funny.I dont have any aspect to complain about currently.

The animation is a bit different in this anime.
I kinda like this style, it suits it well. The story is unusual, that's for sure. At one point it totally gave me a mafia vibe. It's a nice anime, with a good mood and relaxed pace. Can't decide to keep watching it or not...

It's visually nice (excepted crowds as cyth said) and it delivers a pleasant atmosphere. However this introduction isn't really exciting but not enough boring to make me drop it. Plus I have expectations from The Tatami Galaxy's author.
And there's Benten. Only the main character reminds me Kuu from Wagaya no Oinarisama to my mind

animation is okay, the purple haired woman seems interesting.
But not really interested in tengus. Also, I seen it in other animes, but you can't drink alcohol underaged, but its fine to buy them at stores? I seen many times when teenagers or under are sent to do errands and they bring back sake with them. |
