Episode 10 was wonderful. It felt like an episode from the first season. It had what has been missing from this season: focus on the side characters. More aggressive has pretty much been all about Potte. I loved it but I would liked the other girls to get more screentime, so I'm delighted Kanae finally got her very own episode.
I could easily relate to Kanae. I had a very hard time finding my own path when I was her age as well. In the end, she still hasn't found what she wants to do but she realized nothing will happen if she doesn't move forward. So she will! We're probably going to see Kanae's graduation in the final episode. I am so not ready ;_;

Don't worry Kanny, I have a theory as to how things might play out so that Kanae doesn't leave Potte and friends.
Spoiler for Kanae's Final Gambit:
You heard it here first, Kanon. You heard it here first. I wish the false information I posted on the first page about this series being two cours had turned out to be true, I love Tamayura too much to see it go. ;_; |

Damn, these graduation themed episodes always hit me hard. I'm not sure if it's just me but the act of leaving high school was such a major point in my life that talking about it always leaves me quite nostalgic. I'm not sure I'm ready to see Kanae graduate so soon. It's been so few episodes since she's been introduced, it feels way too soon.
Also: is it me or is the art quality slipping quite a bit?

I don't know about the art itself, but there were definitely problems with quality checking. There were times where characters' month were moving when they weren't talking, and vice-versa. It was very jarring.

I think the Pentax Q which Kanae uses is probably the smallest interchangeable-lens camera since the old Pentax Auto 110 from the seventies. If i had the spare cash I would be rather tempted by one.
I can really empathise with Kanae in this episode. She's found all these great new friends, but soon she'll graduate and (she thinks) leave them all behind. I can see how that would make her said, but I think she'll find she keeps her friends even after leaving school. Also, I did like the bit where we see Fuu reloading her camera, rewinding the old film and putting in a new one. The little details are wonderful if you've ever owned a camera in the Rollei 35 family, as I strongly suspect someone in the production team (Maybe even Junichi Sato himself?) does. (sadly my Rollei B35 jammed, and I need to get it fixed) |

This episode.... this episode was enough to make a grown man cry.
But not this man! Get back in there tear! Get back... get back.... That moment at the end with Kanae with Kaze Iro No Film as BGM...

Truly the feel-good show of the season for me. Episode 11 was touching. Wonderful seasons close and the hopes of new wonderful seasons opening is what keeps us going in this thing called life. And a great circle of friends. Bravo Tamayura ~More Aggressive.

Actually that wasn't as sentimental as I was expecting. The dwindling budget didn't help I'm sure but the entire setting was overall a lot more cheerful for the first half than I was expecting. But that's actually a good thing. Tamayura isn't a show to make me feel down, it's the feel good show that I cling to each week to forget about all the bad things that happen in everyday life and at that it's been extremely effective this season.
But I will admit. I was almost following the girls in crying during Kanae's small speech during the night there. Not the most effective speech I've seen but it still pulls all the right strings for someone who's grown so found of the characters like I did. Good job Satou-sensei (and rest of team).

Kanae is such a miracle of the universe. Her speech to Potte was so touching. And the part where she broke down crying... Don't go!
Only one episode left. Which show is going to fill the gap Tamayura will leave in my heart?

Tamayura ~Hitotose~! Assuming you haven't watched the series since its original Fall 2011 airing, you might've forgotten the show enough for it to seem fairly new again. You'll also need a less aggressive show to help yourself calm down after this action-packed new season of Tamayura.

Nooooooooo! it's the final ep.
Spoiler for Final ep.:
Tamayura ~More Aggressive~ is the great sequel for Tamayura series. I hope to see another season of Tamayura, if there is the content to do. Finally, I will give all of you the free .gif of Kanae from the final ep.

Truly a beautiful send off. There is a bitter sweet element in life going forward but with good memories, making the best of the time we do have and maintaining truly loving friendships, we get back on our feet in no time should life's blues come calling. Tamayura ~More Aggressive~ is about putting oneself out there, taking risks and through being more aggressive growing through experience. Life turns out so much better when we do our best. Potte's life was infinitely better and she grew so much as a person.
Heartwarming. Shows like this will never grow old to me. |
