Not really keeping up with Another but at least the art looks great.

*sighs*
Who do I have to convert to Communism in order for FMP Another translation to actually start?

Well, I'm a bit happy and sad too,
The original FMP has come to an end with volume 19,(this should be an opportunity to finish the series in anime too).
After discovering it in 2002 accidentally, I got hooked on it. To tell you the truth it was the 2nd anime series I watched and helped me get on the otaku side of life
What I actually think of the spin-offs: without Sousuke and Kaname as main characters, it can have the same name but it will never have the same feeling(just like Tokyo drift in Fast and furious franchise).
It's good to see there are still some fans out there, even after 12-15 years, I am proud to say I lived to see the happy end. (Even if I'm not a fan of SousukexKaname; poor Tessa)
Anyway ... I will check back here a few more times, see ya....

So is Another a sequel or spinoff? I mean is it by the same author?

Also, somebody protect me from Zero Gauron!

It's both. It is a sequel, it takes place 11 years after the end of FMP, but while it's planned by Gatoh, it's actually written by someone else - Naoto Okuro.

Nope, they are only mentioned in passing. Only Mao and kruz appear on a semi regular basis. Though i m pretty sure even Gatoh admits that Kaname and Sousuke's story is done. At most i see them making a badass cameo and save the day at one point most likely when the topic of the lambda driver becomes important again. After that they will probably become support characters like mao and weber.

I wonder if Sousuke retired from Mithril. I haven't read translation about the original novels' ending

You are very behind considering that mithrill ceased to exist shortly after the events in the anime. I recommend you to go and read the manga which is almost at the end.

No I read it. I meant the fact that by the novels' ending he was still working for Tessa for a mission but I don't remember him choosing his military life or high school life.
Spoiler for Finale:

I heard a rumor.
BETRAYAL! KyoAni bought Gatoh with a deal to adapt Amagi Brilliant Park into anime.
That is what his plans and expectations were.

I don't think it was, considering he made those comments about expectations at the same time he announced the Amaburi novels XD I doubt they already planned an anime when the first book wasn't even done. Then again, they do a lot of things that don't make sense to me, so who knows.

While I would've been happier with an announcement of more FMP, I'm really excited about this. ^^ It's supposed to be more lighthearted than FMP, but with the comedy and drama. A little more Fumoffu-esque in style if we're gonna compare it directly to FMP. And it has Bonta-kun, and he's very angry XD He and Seiya get into fights and Isuzu breaks them up by pointing muskets at both of them.

So you want to compare this thing to FMP? No, just no. And Bonta-kun? Now FMP fans surely will not feel betrayed! ...I don't really know why I was expecting new FMP anime from studio that din't create any good TV series from years.

The only reason comparisons are being made to FMP is because it's by the same author, but I try to keep them loose since they're very different stories. I want more FMP as much as the next person (seriously, have you seen the level of my obsession?), but I'm honestly just glad to see more of Gatoh's work getting adapted. It may not be more FMP, but it does keep the hope alive, at least for me. People still think his work is worth something, so I won't be losing any hope over this.

And there's nothing saying KyoAni would be the ones to do more FMP. It's changed hands before, it could do it again *shrug* I think KyoAni did amazing work on it, but the director of TSR said that he never wanted to do another action project again, especially not one with mech, so it doesn't surprise me that KyoAni hasn't picked up more. I'm hoping another studio will, though with how heavily Gatoh works with KyoAni the last few years, I honestly don't know. Guess just time will tell. Maybe they'll get another director to work on it, or maybe they'll convince the guy who did TSR that he did a great job ('cause he did) and that it's worth it.

Meh, either way, I'm excited for Gatoh for getting more of his work done, I think KyoAni will do a great job with it, and this hasn't affected my hopes for more FMP anime. Like I said before -- I'd have been MORE excited if it was an FMP announcement, but this is in no way a bad thing.

I am actually looking forward to this since I am yet to see anything written by Gatoh that would not turn out great.
But I am troubled by one little issue: the protagonist. As far as I understand, Amagi Brilliant Park is a harem. What would the protagonist be in this harem anime? And can Gatoh write a harem story without being dragged into the writer's hell of generic spineless and in no way interesting male characters who for some inexplicable reasons (*dark whisper* teenage alpha-male fantasies) manage to be liked by attractive women. Since the reason I fell in love with FMP! is that it had the badass yet still vulnerable and reliable hero who I, as a reader, wanted to get the girl and save the day. This perfect love is probably due to the fact that me and Gatoh share the same macho bullshit interests and even have the same beards, but still! =)
Oh, and also there's loli. Goddamit. First FMP Another, then this. Has Gatoh discovered lolicon?
