Ep 06
Another good episode, and one that focuses primarily on each of the dragons and their getting closer with the individual humans they have "chosen", it seems: Kobayashi/Tohru is something we have known of for some time. But we learn in this episode that having a single human they feel close to and fond of (in a different sense than just family) seems to be a fairly common trait for at least some dragons, and that Tohru is not a freak accident of nature in that sense. Takiya/Fafnir, Rize/Kanna and even Shouta/Quetzelcoatl all seem to generally follow a similar pattern. We also know that there is at least one more dragon showing up based on the OP and ED ... I wonder if she will exhibit the same qualities of attatchment? Gotta agree that the scene wiith Kanna under the umbrella jumping up and down while singing was indeed very nice, and yeah ... I also thought she was going to eat the snail. Was also curious to see KyoAni using the same VA for both Kanna's teacher and Rize's sister Georgie....

Not sure what I think about Kanna and Riko beginning scene.
It was cute, but on the other hand it was very... brave, no? Basically almost yuri And Lucoa and Shota.... Just no I liked this episode less than others. I hope it will not turn into cheap gag party, with Lucoa throwing herself at Shota all the time. I like the anime, I wouldn't like it to become some silly cheap and cliche boring series Last edited by Schpittfeuer; 2017-02-15 at 16:58. |

Kawaii or not aside, I do very much appreciate Quetzelcoatl as a character - though she definitely has a penchant for being misunderstood more than the other dragons part of me feels as if she were the most "mature" of them all...which may translate to her being the "most ancient" of them.
She certainly had a time when she was actively involved in the cultivation and flourishing of an entire civilization on earth, so I guess to that extent she may (ironically) be the most familiar with humans as well? In that light her tendency for being misunderstood seems rather curious. And speaking of humans ... Shouta mentioned he was from a family of magicians and that they all would be going back one day if I remember correctly? I wonder if that means the same land as Tohru and the rest are from? And if dragons and human magicians can "cross over" to this world, what about other things?

Remember in ep 01 when Tohru mentioned that dragons did not need to sleep? That may be part of what allows Fafnir to do what he does in that regard.

You may have to have the qualification of living near Kobayashi and Tohru....
On a different note, I noticed that Quetzelcoatl has easy recourse to magic (rather like Tohru) but while Fafnir probably does he does not seem to bring them into his daily life ... his form change is one that we have seen, and energizing the dodgeball is another. Kanna has her ability to generate electricty around her and absorb it, and she can change her form as well. I wonder what their different abilities with magic are? And I wonder if they have to learn it from other dragons somehow?

The thing is, it started very very cute, with Tohru introduction, then Tohru & Kobayashi moments, then ultra cute Kanna introduction, school, other dragons.. Everything was cute and very funny. Now yuri and LucoaxShota sexual gags seem forced and out of place. And the next episode is "the fanservice one".. The risk of the anime becoming cheesy and cheap increases |

To be fair the source material is very very similar, and maybe even at times more intense than what we have seen, so to that degree KyoAni is actually holding back thus far in my opinion and doing a quite good job adaptation wise imo thus far.
It may not be entirely fair to just needle the studio for the content of ep 6 ... if you dislike the content then the issue might moreso be with the source material (which is understandable). Of course one could argue about adapting the source manga in the first place ... but that is a bit of a different thing, perhaps. Without going into too many details and all, of course.
