Great atmosphere, design, and production values, but the combination of some cheesy "anime" elements with grittiness is a bit iffy for me. I'm not that keen on a heroine who straight up executes someone like that. Also, I thought the girls revealed more information than was prudent. Still the setting is pretty interesting and it seems like a show that could tell some interesting stories, so maybe I'll stick around and see where it goes.

Definitely one of the top 3 contenders for the season. Aside from their unrealistically frilly outfits, there's no other fanservice elements like panty shots or nude scenes. Serious plot with plenty of drama and good action scenes. I just loved how every girl proved to be more than a cute face. My favorite scene was that one girl with the really cute voice showing she can imitate a man's voice.

So that Cavorite stuff involves gravity control? It looked like by manipulating that sphere she could change the direction gravity was pulling on things. It didn't look like flight, like standard sci-fi antigravity, but more like controlled falling, sometimes in directions different from the way gravity normally works. Looks like Ange is... not exactly right in the head. It was disturbing how she kept shooting him while saying "no" over and over. Some deep-seated issues there, and him lying to her in a way that played off her trauma clearly did not help.

That too. They shouldn't have shown him any of their faces, except perhaps the one or two he might have seen during his immediate rescue. They should never have told him where he was, and certainly not that an important political figure was working for them. Frankly, they shouldn't have gone along with his request regarding his sister, as, even if it had been legit, it would have endangered their real mission. But then, his entire reason for existing was to provide them a reason to reveal those details so that the viewers could know it, so the writers were being a little heavy-handed.

Considering it is named after cavorite, an antigravity material in HG Wells The First Men In the Moon, where it was used basically to coat objects and make them immune to force of gravity, its very likely that she simply is not affected by gravity overall and can change her direction freely and stuff. |

That's probably the reason she fired multiple times too. Just one shot could be interpreted as suicide by the insurance company, but multiple shots is obviously a murder.

Not sure they were risking much though. He was under constant surveillance and would likely remain watched even after defection. If he was going to turn on them then he'd be killed. If there's no chance of that information getting out then there isn't any unnecessary risk being taken. In fact giving him juicy information was a good test. Be hard to resist reporting in at that point.
And really it allowed for good character moments in this episode for them to go this way. Gives some insight into Ange and yet still shows her intelligence. Even checking on the sister was partially used to confirm suspicions she already had. And even if the brother hadn't reported in when he did those suspicions still would have been turned in to her superiors. Honestly I think the only thing that guy had waiting for him even after crossing would have been an intense interrogation. If I was aiming for a believable spy story. I probably wouldn't check out the show with magic technology, battle maids, and sword use in an age with firearms. Really good first episode. The setting was set-up well, a good emotional first episode, and just shows how messy things can get. No surprise, but definitely not fun and games being spies. A lot of blood on their hands.

I couldn't really get through the episode. The girls all seem like the same old boring archetypes and none of them are very interesting. Even the plot seems rather blah, spy generic. I might just have to give this one a pass.
