Upcoming changes in Competitive Season 8 -More aggressive limits in SR variance in teams, so you are considerably less likely to have a diamond player in a GM game or a bronze player in a plat game. This system was already implemented in a patch last month but was not that aggressive but they've been adjusting it in the background during December. -Personal performance removed as a factor in SR calculation in Diamond tier and above, meaning the only factors in calculating SR would the underdog system, whether you're a new player or not and how close you are to the upper limit of 5000. |

I tried the new game mode, love it.
If 'Team Mei' is competent and works together they're never going to lose, but given that in 'public' games you're always going to have those 'yolo' type players who want to be a hero the Winston has a massive chance at winning + Mei's ultimate becomes Junkrats 'trap' on the ground + Winston has ~ 5500 hp in 'enraged/ultimate' mode At the very least it is a very nice change of pace

Not a fan of that new mode at all. Most people just want to block each other instead of Winston and don't attack him during normal form but do during ult mode. Once I got my win I was done for good. The concept is fine but it's too rife with griefing from the player base.

The game-mode is also currently the best 'xp/minute' for anyone wanting to farm lootboxes

So over the last couple of days, a lot of GM tier players have had glitches affecting whole teams and the game just going kaput. Despite none of them being in the wrong, all of them had the 50 SR loss + 10 minute suspension.
Really....they have a harsh time getting any gains. If a glitch is freaking happening to all 12 players and they all get slapped with this...this is beyond stupid.

CTF coming back to Overwatch with new rules: -New map specifically for CTF, "Ayutthaya", set in Thailand. -Sudden death round with flags moved closer to centre of map, replaces draws. -Flag pick up is now instant. -Movement and immunity abilities make you drop the flag. Competitive CTF coming to arcade for duration of the "Year of the Dog" Lunar New Year event, which is 4 weeks long instead of 3 weeks like previous events. |

And the new skins are about as interesting as we'd come to expect; kudos to the art team.

Two out of four parts of a Sombra rework were accidentally put in the new patch. She now has faster hacking speed (0.65 seconds instead of 0.8 seconds) but heals from hacked health packs no longer grant ultimate charge.
The other two parts not yet in are her weapon spread being reduced by 10% and her hack disabling some "passive" abilities, mainly ones that require button presses (wall climbs, Genji's double jump, Mercy's hover, Pharah's jets, Lucio's songs). They will be hotfixing the accidentally put in changes out of the game soonish. In case you're wondering about map pool in competitive CTF, it's the new map plus Nepal Village, Lijiang Garden, Ilios Ruins and Oasis University. Basically of the old "CTF" maps they took from control, they kept the 4 ones that were the least unbalanced. Last edited by Tokkan; 2018-02-08 at 20:27. |

Really liking some of them skins, def wanting the Mercy one.
Edit: ohh I got the Mercy skin lol, that was lucky. Edit 2: So I've only recently got back into the game after like a year off but even for me knowing team comps is easy. However it seems that almost ever other player I'm teamed with doesn't have a clue. The amount of Genji, Hanzo and Widow teams I've been with over the past couple of weeks actually astounds me. I feel like the player base has generally gotten worse than when I first started playing. I really need to find a clan to play with, it's soul crushing and actually starting to get to me now how bad these Genji, Hanzo and Widow teams are becoming.

In reality: insta-lock a useless damage dealer and force your team to pick around you or lose (therefore you always get your way)

Brigitte abilities:
LShift - Whip Shot: 20m range, does what looks like 60-70 damage. Stuns and knockbacks if hits. 4 second CD. E - Repair Pack: Heals for 150, will give up to 75 armour if overhealed. The armour will go away after 2 seconds. 6 second CD. Right Click - Barrier Shield: 600 health barrier in front of her, basically a smaller version of Rein's shield. 3 second CD if depleted, no CD otherwise. Right Click>Left Click - Shield Bash: While holding up Barrier Shield, she can charge forward a short way by pressing left click; will stun, knockback and do about 50 damage. Can block Rein charge but loses to Doomfist rocket punch. 5 second CD. Q - Rally: Gives her a speed boost and generates a maximum 150 armour each for her and her teammates within a 8m radius. Armour from her ultimate only expires when removed by damage; it also stacks with Torb's armour packs and the overheal armour from her E. Activating does not interrupt her barrier. Her passive causes all her attacks to give a heal-over-time (80 over 5 sec) to teammates within 20m; it currently is NOT cancelled by Sombra's hack. Health/Armour = 200/50 (250 total HP). Is there anything 'unlikable' about the new hero?
I've tried her on the PTR and conceptually she feels amazing all round. The only real 'downside' (if it could be considered that) is that she needs to be able to damage stuff in order to heal, but even if she's not in range to do so she can just put up a shield to either advance or wait it out.

New PTR update:
-"Avoid as Teammate" option added (essentially the Avoid this Player feature removed from the game early in its life but with some caveats: it only prevents them from being on your team, you can only avoid up to 2 people at any time and it only lasts a week) -Reporting has some minor updates ("Poor Teamwork" category removed, "Griefing" renamed to "Gameplay Sabotage") D.Va nerf: micro missiles now have an explosion damage of 4 instead of 6 (impact damage remains the same), effective 22% damage nerf on her missiles. Mei's primary fire now passes through enemies, meaning it can hit multiple targets at once now. Reaper buff: His ultimate now reloads his guns automatically. His Wraith form is now a 50% speed increase, up from 25%, and he can now cancel Wraith form with shift or primary fire. Moira's received no real balance changes but her visual effects now become more transparent the closer they are to her target (or any player in the case of her ultimate), reducing visual clutter. Zenyatta's secondary fire now has 15% reduced firerate, lowering its DPS but keeping its damage the same. That's it, they nerfed the two biggest winners of the dive meta (D.Va and Zen) and buffed the best counters to any sort of tank meta that could pop up later (Mei and Reaper).
