Omg.. i was not expecting to see such a funny episode. Ainz and co reaction to the lizard sex in the mirror stream was priceless
Shaltear as a chair was fun too especially because of Albedo's reaction to it. I giggled . And that Demiurge... if he really is using human skin for the scrolls, then he is taking advantage of the human body to the last bone.. literally! It was nice to see some of the skills from Cocytus. The Lizards were too underleveled so we only got a glimpse of what he can really do. I liked this arc a lot. It was an interesting perspective seeing Ainz through the eyes of the Lizards. All their struggles, wins and defeats. And who knows, they might be relevant and benefit Ainz in the future. Cocytus will train them until they become godlike warriors too xD Quote:
@Blueknight78 Overlord is not about the fights, training, nakama powa or the struggles of a young boy wanting to become the best pokemon in the zone. You already have tons of shows like that too. It's about the reaction of the people when facing a powerfull evil threat instead. The heroes are the side characters. A fantasy world with RPG elements where we discover glimpses of it's lore, as our Nazarick Guardians explore the different kingdoms. This is hardly the same you can find in other isekais unless you just look for the OP aspect of the majority of the fight scenes. But then again, that is far from being Overlord's greatest strength. And it's perfectly normal for you to dislike it if you are only after the action. And if we look deeper, Ainz is not so OP at all, since there are world items that can change the balance of power in a matter of seconds. And from episode 1, other players already reached that world in the past. Their descendants or even players from the current time frame (if they exist at all) or simply smarter folks could chalenge him later in the series. |

Well while i know this is not a true action/battle focused serie, having battles like that almost every time is not good and could mbe much simple just skip it since it not really worth of waste time. And that is a issue when only "itens god like or peoples god like can offer any problem to him, wel again it's really not m cup of taste.

That's because you only care for the action part and that i can understand. What about the last three episodes? You were seeing the everyday life of a sentient race, as if they were the protagonists, that suddenly got attacked by some unknown threat. Their thoughs, strategies, background lore, conflicts and character interaction were explored. You rarely, if ever, see an isekai anime focusing on that. Sure, not everyone liked the Lizards story but Overlord's world is immense and diverse. The probability of someone find a fantasy plot they like with other kingdoms/race is huge anyway. We already have battle shonens and more battle oriented isekai. I'm happy for having something with a different focus for a change.

The only thing i know is what you write here. My "assumption" was made from your comments that solely focused on the action scenes and how you dislike seeing unbalanced boring fights. Which is ok actually. I'm not judging you on that since everyone has their own taste. Was just replying to your statement of "the only thing there is to react in Overlord is seeing insects being crushed in action scenes", which is not true. Nothing more.

Well we get another glimpse showing how OP the denizens of Nazarick are.
While it might be boring, I would actually like to see each one of the level guardians flex their muscles a bit just to see what abilities they have. I'm all mixed up about this episode. The Lizard I guess died a warriors death, but they also just got steam rolled. I'm not sure if I should be praising their valiant efforts to fight til the end or just pity the fools who had to go up against a raid boss with only a noob group of 5. Now that this arc is out of the way, we can finally go to the adventures of the combat gentleman dragon butler.

Props to the Lizardmen. Put up a heck of a fight despite being insanely overmatched. A pretty darn brutal showdown, but sadly nothing else could have been expected. There still isn't anything we've seen that can seriously put up a fight against Ains and company.

The fight was just a small glimpse of how insanely powerful they are, which also serves as a good comparison to whatever comes later. I didn't like the lizardman arc, but the Cocytus massacring the lizards was hardly the central point of that arc. The main fight was the army vs army, this time it was just the conclusion of the arc.
Can't say I like the Shounen type battle so much though. Few times you see it and it's always the same formula: Strong enemy appears, thrashes the hero. Second fight, hero pushing, big bad gets serious and starts thrashing him again. "Ooooooh ooooooooo..." nakama power "Impossible!" hero thrashes big bad. The end Also, another depiction of sex in mainstream anime, lately it's rather popular... well this one was indeed interesting. And yep, Shaltier never disappoints. |

Moaning chair, lizard mating... They delivered hard, lol.
The thing that made the biggest impression on me however was zaryusu's speech after he was resurrected... Bowing down, begging for his brother in broken voice... That got to me man. Lizardmen arc got a way better adaptation than it deserved imo. I didn't want them to adapt this volume but seeing it animated was certainly a blast. I guess this also kinda shows how much naoyuki itoh has improved as anime director since first season, though I wish the first season was this confident in it's direction too. Best butler next arc~ |

Well, the arc was sorta entertaining, so the true lizard MC better be significant. They spent enough time on him, although I'm really disappointed that this arc took 5 episodes. They definitely could have finished in 3 episodes.
I'm finally looking forward again to Overlord, to see what is in store next episode.
