I'd be happy with them just entering into a relationship. I'm afraid the anime is going to be endless teasing and never deliver. Then again, this show is called "Manaria Friends" and not "Manaria Lovers", so I should know better.

These two have some serious chemistry going on. I'm rather surprised Grea had the presence of mind to refuse to let Anne sleep with her over, after that intense moment.
Just hurry up and make magical yuri part-dragon supermage babies together already you two!

Watched episode 3:
Hmm, so their sensei has a side business of making cute clothes. How nice. Both girls enjoy the trip, which somehow turns into a date rowing a boat. Grea should just agree to the sleepover. >__<

This seems a very good show for 15 mins, character interactions are sweet and subtle. The Elf student president in ep1 had a whole thing with the Elf secretary, who perked her up after the library mess with a single line. Anne seemed to be wishing she had that kind of bond with Grea, then Grea was waiting for her, so touching.
From ep2, is the bible a banned book in this setting? I wondered if Grea was going to lay an egg. If this is based on the event in the Rage of Bahamut card game, the series might lead up to the dramatic battle hug shown in the 2016 trailer. |

The bunny princess will die from loneliness without her dragon girlfriend~
Wish they had a couple more scenes showing Anne's predicament, i.e the ones who excel can end up feeling isolated even when there's no ill will involved, but the last part was still more than enough to put a smile on my face. Also, I loved how the piano music at the beginning was actually being played by Grea. |

Well of course we must have an episode about how the romance began .
My condolences for Anne though. One time I actually feel sympathy for a genius. Doesn't need to study and too smart to actually tutor anyone so...she's rather bored the whole time. Some people hate tests because they are hard or the studying sucks. Anne hates them because it means Grea deprivation. I can empathize in that sense. At least the test passed so back to them flirting all the time.

Ah, the loneliness of the genius. She's so far ahead of everyone that she considers the school material quiant, which sadly means she can't even use her genius to tutor other students. If she could have at least taught the others it would have filled her days and kept her from thinking so much about missing Grea, but even that ws denied to her.
At least the tests finally passed, and the two of them can get back to making beautiful music together.

I'll admit it took a bit to figure out what was going on with this episode . For a bit it felt as if we went through a genre shift.
But it had some nice moments. A nice change of pace to fit in some action and it did allow Grea to show off what she can do. Does make her an increasingly nice fit with Anne though. One can unleash magical oblivion and the other is more a physical power type. Needed some help by the end but Grea unleashed some nice punches along the way . Anne's life is rough I suppose. Too darn powerful so is left as an observer of the drill. Does make her actions in the first part more hilarious. She just wants in on the fun! And well of course to protect her Grea.

Really guys, you've been trashing the entire campus so bad that I suspect most if not all of the buildings are already a write-off, and you get mad at Anne for messing up a single one? And it wasn't even her fault: she struck the golem a perfect surgical strike. It was whoever was controlling the thing's fault for letting it stumble back into the building rather than just dismissing it right away.
I get wanting to train the students to handle things without relying on Anne, but on the other hand part of the point of a drill is to train people to react if that sort of thing happens for real. And in a real invasion scenario it would be criminally stupid of them to leave Anne on the sidelines. Remember all those buildings being overrun with students still in them? In real life those would have been dead students. Anne could have prevented that, assuming she didn't just wipe out the entire invasion by herself. Quote:
PS: The translators are clearly Anne x Grea shippers. Anne's actual line to the golem was just "What do you think you're doing to Grea?!". No "my" in there.

In the end they did get what they wanted from the drill though. So I kind of agree with their logic of leaving Anne out even if it was less fun for her. They got to find the weak points in their procedures and vulnerabilities. The students should also be more prepared for how to respond in a crisis. There may be times when Anne isn't there to save the day. It could be pretty devastating if everyone's focus is solely on Anne as the only line of defense and she's isn't around or somehow occupied with a last boss level threat . Part of why the episode worked too is the plausible reason for Anne to be on the sidelines anyways. She's the Princess, her life may be deemed more valuable than the rest of the student body. But to be fair they should include her in some drills since there are times when she will clearly be around and unwilling to sit on the sidelines. And they shouldn't complain about damage from Anne getting involved. They are having real combat in the school where students are getting injured. Pretty sure the damage done by other fights throughout the school were also pretty messy and destructive to property.
