'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse' beats 'Mirai' at the Golden Globes

That said, I'm surprised that "Mirai" even got nominated at all, given the apparently lukewarm reception it received from viewers. I stand by my first impressions of the movie, and I still strongly believe that it's Mamoru Hosoda's most technically mature work to date. |

Good for Hosoda-sensei. Mirai is far from his best work IMO, but he deserves more recognition than he gets and Oscar nominations are always good for anime. It’ll never win of course but that’s fine.

Found out completely randomly that the movie is already out. Has been out for ten months in fact. I had totally forgotten about it, and it may as well have remained that way, given how unremarkable this film was. Definitely the weakest movie Hosada has ever made for me. Maybe I would have enjoyed it more if I were a parent, or if I didn't hate little kids (especially boys). Or maybe if I could remember anything at all about what it was like for me when my little sister came into my life.
