Yeah, this was kind of a weak start. The 'grand battle' was pretty poor looking and just had weird moments. Went silent outside the music to I guess create intrigue over the change to that other body. Though felt odd having visible reactions but effectively slapping the mute button over any voice work. Got to the point where I had to think "is there going to be some dialogue before this episode is over!?" There almost wasn't. 5 minutes of no voice work.

The first part was okay, but the second part... not a good choice to spend half the episode on a music video.
Still, the premise has some promise, so I'll give it another episode or two to get better.

Essentially 15 minutes of exposition and a badly animated music video battle to open a series is a bad start.
It feels like they spent most of the money casting every leading voice actor they could find in cameos. The silent segment also goes on too long. It's nice way to skim some material that the viewers can infer from the visuals, but not after that much exposition. |

That was by far the worst premiere I've watched this season, and in the top 10 of all time.
The exposition dump and NotGandalf roleplaying with the king were fine, I guess. Then came that absurdly awful battle with horrendous CGI. Then all of a sudden it switches to NotGandalf having turned into a little girl and experiencing the joys of peeing outdoors. They didn't tell us if it was just a forced avatar change or if the guy got Isekai'd (it's obviously the latter). I mean, nothing from the plot summary posted above made it in. What were they thinking?

This was one of the most anime original (when based on a LN) first episodes I have seen. It was such a long exposition and it didn't really provide that much actual info anyway. It didn't even explain why he wasn't "just a mage". Then we get no internal monologue and just music. It's really bad when there is more content in the plot summary then the entire first episode.
It's not terrible if you have read the LN, but only if you have. |

I read the source material before, so I could piece the scenes to what is what, but man, if i was an anime only, its the most clumsy set of scenes thrown together I seen in years of light novel adaptations

As LN reader, I don't really understand why did anime director think it's a good idea to present the first ep. in this way...like shouldn't they out more focus on 'Mira' instead of MC old avatar?
Maybe they tried to copy what 'The World finest Assassin' did in the first ep. but failed to make it entertaining/interesting.
