Kinsou no Vermeil (Vermeil In Gold) series is getting a TV anime for Summer 2022.

Synopsis

Alto, who was dangerously close to repeating a year, ends up invoking a magic formation from a book he found by chance and summons a demon named Vermeil who had been sealed.

I know demons are bad and all...but if they were a sexy, busty, onee-san voiced by Maaya Uchida...wouldn't you be tempted ?

The Opening is pretty fitting for this magical romcom, showing Alto and Vermeil together alongside a peppy, energetic, beat and showing off a bit of their backstories, the supporting cast, and what they'll have to go through to be together .

So it's your typical magic school setting and your typical situation of the protagonist failing in some area and at risk...although admittedly Alto is good at everything else but summoning (and there's a legitimate reason why he can't do it) and he's got a cute childhood friend by his side supporting him .

Was it a complete coincidence that the book fell on Alto's head or was it divine providence? That Holy Woman in the Opening looking through the book makes me suspicious .

Can't beat summoning a sexy demoness buck-naked into your room, and then she's practically all over you, freely having her way with your lips and body as she absorbs your mana...I think anyone would want to get a familiar contract settled immediately .

I have to wonder about Alto's sister if she owned a backless dress that hugs the chest and butt tight and shows off your legs...then again, it is the perfect outfit for Vermeil and her amazing body, if she has to wear clothes at all .

So Alto's mana is very potent and powerful, too much for any normal spirit but probably the only kind of Mana that could withstand a contract with a demon. So basically Vermeil is the perfect fit for Alto .

Sensei getting a little bit of service when Vermeil has to show off her cleavage to demonstrate her Familiar mark .

Poor Lilia...sees some random adult woman throwing herself at her beloved Alto, her outburst gets her thrown out of the class, and then she basically gets felt up when she loses the duel with Vermeil. Although Lilia acts like the pure-hearted childhood friend love interest (she even has white panties!) but she seems more than willing to let Alto have his way with her if he was willing...which makes for a good pairing with Vermeil. I don't think they'll ever be actual friends, but they might make fun love rivals .

Lucky Alto getting kisses at night and getting to rest his head right between Vermeil's boobs...and she's willing to do more than that if he's willing, though unsurprisingly he's fine with just kissing. I think Vermeil actually likes his innocent side .

The Ending is more atmospheric and moody than I expected...feels like it might be indicating some kind of darker backstory for Vermeil .

While it's still early in the week, this has the most personality in the season so far. Nothing particularly outgoing in the genre but it was a very watchable first ep.

But seriously, i wasn't expecting much from this one based on reading previews but Vermeil's mysterious, amusing and flirty character was what clinched this show's place on my watchlist this season, albeit possibly in the 'guilty pleasure' section.

Vermeil feels like a predator in all definitions of the word, which fits the theme. She towers over Alto in his rooms, stalks him, and terrifies Lilia. She toys with her food (Alto) throughout the episode. They're carefully treading the line in this episode where the way she treats him definitely doesn't come off as sexual.

The backgrounds are gorgeous though. That's my favorite aspect of the series aside from Uchida Maaya.

That combination reminds me of someone else... about as curvy, but healthily tanned, grey/silver of hair, and the eldest of a sibling trio; I would be disappointed to hear that at least one outfit swap image hasn't emerged from the fanart community.

As for the metaphorical rocks and shoals Frontier makes reference to, those could arise from Vermeil's coworkers (assuming they are as cutthroat as Skaven or Terrans are oft portrayed) and/or the local counterparts to Warhammer's Inquisition (some of whom may have no regard for such concerns as 'collateral damage' or even 'innocence').

There can be a lot to be said about how the OP spends 1/3 of its time with just front-facing faces and how the girl's necktie seems to appear and disappear after throwing it at the boy, or how this reminds you of Zero no Tsukaima,

But I think the biggest problem is that despite being a Onee-Shota thing, the Onee's voice is too young. I'd expect a little more deeper, like Brenda from Langrisser Mobile, but this voice sounds like, maybe 3 years at the most older than the protagonist, despite looking a lot older.

Yeah, it was boring either way. I was expecting a bit more comedic antics considering the premise, but it was pretty tame and typical.

Didn't think I'm gonna enjoy this one due to my raging hate against Alto-like protagonists (le 10/10 girls begging to have sex with me but I refuse archetype), but mostly thanks to Vermeil's character, the anime was a pleasant surprise. The ecchi aspect of the show doesn't really appeal to my taste, but the comedy part and certain tidbits (like Alto's sister owning a virgin killer lmao) were fun to watch. Actually I liked Lilia as well, her obvious willingness to taste that thick Alto-mana makes the mc's obliviousness near parodic, which could cause some funny scenes later if done right. Seems like kind of a guilty pleasure so far.

Vermeil can't help but draw attention to herself, whether it be her massive rack or her just casually flicking away a runaway dragon familiar that happens to run into her. Also I only just noticed how her dress offers some solid side-boob !

Subbed Opening and Ending's !

Wow, that headmasters' beard is excessive even by most mage standards. Does that go all the way to his feet? Although all the boys can't keep their eyes off Vermeil's stacked chest .

One of the instructors is voiced by Takehito Koyasu. Like, there's no way they would have Koyasu play a bit character right? He's either going to turn out to be a villain or get more involved with the plot .

I guess it's not that surprising that someone would take issue with Vermeil hurting their familiar like it's nothing, although I see the "Dragonriders" is kind of a nebulous description when one just summons a Tyrannosaur Familiar to bully our protagonists .

Vermeil is probably used to people wanting her body, but she seemed genuinely touched that Alto defended her against Rex. Enough to inject him with his mana so he could finish him! I also like how they worked together to distract and freeze the boys. Nice teamwork .

I love how Lilia is all smug and "ohohoho" when she literally did nothing but just stand there .

So Alto has his sights set on becoming a Platinum Mage, the best of the best, and Vermeil is happy that he has such lofty aims! Which means more mana, which means getting physical, which means Vermeil stripping. Also I think this confirms Vermeil goes commando .

Vermeil kept Alto up all night...probably not what we're thinking, but whoo boy .

We meet Marx, a high-energy and low on sense noble boy who is Alto's self-proclaimed rival but seems like a fairly nice and respectful kid, as well as his stoic maid Cheryl who is cute and seems more than frustrated with her masters' antics .

Can't say I'm surprised this school would make a competition out of gaining the class rep position. Although Marx summoning a beetle named Francoise and immediately getting disqualified was hilarious (I wonder what Cheryl's familiar is though) .

The moment Lilia took out the invisibility potion, I knew it would only extend to her body and not her clothes. So we get treated to Lilia stripping (nice checkered undies) and being buck-naked for the rest of the episode, which was great. And of course her original plan for said potion was to sneak into Alto's room like the horny girl she is .

Vermeil with the spectacular finish against Cerberus! Although the real winner is Cheryl because, surprise surprise, Lilia's invisibility fades at the exact right moment she's right in front of Alto and she's undone by her own nakedness. Good for Cheryl though .

AnimeCentral's taste is kind of suspect at times but for me so far Vermeil and Lycoris Recoil are the most intriguing new series this season. I didn't realize the source was a manga, I'm tempted to read ahead... I'll see I suppose.

Yup, the first episode actually impressed me a lot so I got all the manga currently out. This is squarely in my top watches of the season, with Vermeil being my favorite heroine of the season even before I read the manga. I don’t know where they’ll leave off, but I know I’ll enjoy the ride.

It upped the antics and was definitely an improvement from the first episode, but the conclusion of the episode was just way too anticlimatic? I know what they were trying to do, with the Guiche and Tabitha ripoff getting the flower in the end, but I think they could have tried to have him get it in a more natural way than the winds blowing it like a piece of paper
Or at least animate the blowing scene a little more impactfully than what feels to be more of an afterthought.

I didn't expect "Tabitha" (works for me, can't remember her name anyway heh) to win, but I knew it wouldn't be the MC. MC is almost never student council president.
