Well, Kanon already posted the highlight of the chapter, so there isn't much to say for now. Still, recall that Guinevere mentioned that Arthur will suffer severe consequences for trying to defy fate, so I imagine this means Percy is just about due for a new power-up as the knight of Death.....

Oh, and the first half of the chapter confirms that Teaninich was the one controlling all those animals at the inn. Her magic is Summon Creature, which lets her control several animals at once! The snake she shot at them last chapter ends up biting and poisoning Isolde, so the group is forced to retreat and find Nasciens so he can cure her. The enemy knight falls for a little trap the heroes set, and while it slows her down, it's still not quite enough to stop her pursuit....

Spoiler for 97:

Lancelot and Gawain check outside of Wallnack's borders. They still can't sense magic, but do still notice something odd. Meanwhile, back to Tristan vs. Io, it soon becomes evident that the prince outclasses the demon. However, he still tries reasoning with her, saying that all races suffered during the holy war... including her own. Soon, Io reveals that Arthur had blackmailed her into attacking the knights of prophecy by holding her friends hostage! And should she renege on her task, those very same friends, who were brainwashed by the king, will kill her! However, her fight with Tristan, coupled with the fact that he's shown empathy for her plight, gives her hope, and she begs him to defeat Arthur. The prince says that all races should team up to fight the power of Chaos, and we see that, outside of the town, Lance and Gawain encounter Io's companions....

Meanwhile.... Percy instantly revives! Chion is particularly shocked by that fact, heh. But it's not long before they get attacked by the other enemy knight, Teaninich! She sends a swarm of her creatures after them, but they instantly get "tamed" by Percy, leaving the woman open for a strike from Nasciens! One of the mini-Percys tells Teaninich that her creatures disobeyed her simply because they wanted to live....

Way to ruin Chion's mood. Bet he went FUCK YEAH! inside his head, then he had to get disappointed like this. Poor guy.

Very curious to see what Gawain can do in the middle of the night. She's very proficient with magic but is that enough to take on demons? Of course, Lancelot could probably wipe the floor with all of them on his own.

Io (and her friends) was the one Arthur sent, after all.

Now that Percy's group has captured Teaninich, they weigh their options: Donnie wants to find Anne first, but Chion would rather go straight to Tristan. Percy and Nasciens think the former option would be better since the magical jamming would make finding Tristan difficult.

Speaking of the prince, he asks Io to deactivate her jamming, but she's reluctant to since Arthur could spy on their conversation otherwise. She then offers to tell him why she and her fellow demons were captured by the king. Meanwhile, back to Anne's group, Jade sucks the poison out of Isolde. While getting patched up, she recounts a memory she has of him saving her life in the past. However, when Jade responds to her, Anne notices that he's lying about something. On that note, Jade appears ready to make a confession....

....When suddenly, their group gets attacked by MacDuff! They fight back against him, but they're no match for the Chaos Knight! Jade even tries to blind him with light, but that's ineffective since it seems the enemy already is blind! Isolde then thinks of Tristan as MacDuff impales her with his hand....!!!!

Huh, bit of a shorter chapter this week. Apparently, Suzuki may not be feeling well? Hope he gets better soon, then.

The lie bit was the most interesting to me even though Macduff doing his assassin business is entertaining as heck!

In this arc, Jade first mentioned memories to Chion and there Chion went "Did we (do that)?". Now Isolde mentioned memories and Jade responded with "Did that happen?", but it seems to be a lie.

I think Jade mentioned his childhood friend connection to Chion in the Liones arc, while in this arc the trio with Isolde put so much emphasis on this. It really feels like this is some fake memory creation which I suspected earlier and Jade knows this. Maybe he is not the source, but for the sake of his spy cover, he leads them on. His love for Isolde is probably genuine though.

I think you're overthinking it. Jade answered that because he was embarrassed. It's obvious he took the blow for Isolde and will most likely die next chapter.

The memory manipulation for that to work would have to be on a relatively massive scale, considering it would need to work on powerful people like Meliodas and Elizabeth.

I was personally more interested in Jade saying Chion was a gentle kid back then, but something apparently happened that turned him into the douche he is now. Set up for a Chion redemption arc.

Would it be really massive? I'm mainly thinking about two people here, Chion and Isolde. If I remember correctly, Tristan saved them at some point and that's how their platoon came to be. If Jade is a spy for Camelot, then childhood friend memories were created about him for two people that are close to Tristan. A nice cover.

As for Chion, even Gilthunder has no idea how he became so twisted. From the last two pages of Chapter 94.

Spoiler for Chapter 99:

I was indeed overthinking things.

Jade takes the deadly pierce, shielding Isolde. I didn't want it to be this predictable.

Speaking a predictable, a flashbacks shows how it was Tristan that saved the trio and carried Isolde, so that was Jade's lie. Predetermined couples are annoying. And the poor guy pretty much got NTR'd there.

Isolde's attack from the last chapter that hit Macduff's arm goes off and Macduff receives a severe blow from the explosion. But he stands up and gets ready to face Anne, while Isolde holds the dying Jade and wants Anne to quickly bring Tristan to Jade to heal him.

Macduff's magic wore off and the sounds came back. He is confident that he could still take out the targets, but Anne is pressing a question to him, which he doesn't answer. Suddenly he feels that his body is heavy and he can't move. He collapses there.

I joked about this before, but it seems Suzuki is buffing Anne's magic. It's not petrification yet, but increased weight of some sort. And Macduff didn't lie there, just refused to answer why is he doing all of this.

Anyways, the magic sensing is also back and the others find the trio. Anne gives Percival a hug. Editor's note says the heroes paid a heavy price for their victory, implying Jade died, but who knows really since Percival arrived.

If Jade indeed died, then his death happened too soon in the story. He hasn't had enough screentime for me to care about it.

Figured Anne would get a buff at some point, and it does seem like it works a bit like the Truth commandment.

Well, nothing for me to add this time, heh. But yeah, Anne's new power does seem to be a pseudo Truth Commandment of sorts.Whatever the case, it seems pretty effective. As for Jade.... I'd like to say he'll survive, especially with Percy at the scene. But I suppose it's still possible that he'll bite it since we got the flashback and all. But then again, even if he does die, what's to stop Suzuki from giving him something similar to the Elaine treatment, eh?

Anyway, 100th chapter is up next! Does something grand await us on this momentous occasion?

Jade not being a loli is enough reason for him to stay dead.

I think it's fine for Percival to be basically immortal, but making him able to resurrect the dead would be too much and destroy any tension.

And I agree that having Percy revive just about anyone would be too OP. I mean, what would be the point of his title as the Knight of Death, then?

Anime seiyuu news:
Donny will be voiced by Toya Kikunosuke.
Nasiens will be voiced by Shimada Aino.
Anne will be voiced by Nakamura Kanna.
Based on the scans, they are toning down the vivid colors, which I appreciate. Donny's hair color is now brownish rather than red. Sin is also darker redish than kind of pinkish.

Spoiler for Chapter 100:

Jade died, so a rule sticks that Percival can't revive those, who are already dead. Classic Crazy Diamond.

I don't think it's an early death, rather only Donny and Nasiens got much exposure where their deaths would have hit the reader with impact. Majority of Jade's screentime happened in this arc and it would only take like 3 episodes before he dies. Time for Arthur to use his corpse as a puppet and make a Green Knight.

There are other bits as well in the chapter, but I leave it to marvelB.

Anyway, continuing on, after Percy's failure to revive Jade, the group discovers MacDuff has escaped! In fact, the blind knight reunites with Teaninich, who's being restrained by Percy's magic. He's unable to free her, so instead, he takes a magical item bestowed to her by Arthur: A whistle that summons monsters from Purgatory!

But the heroes aren't just sitting around either.... as Chion summons a flame spirit to hunt down and destroy MacDuff! As this goes on, he recalls a conversation between him and Jade, where the latter reveals that while he respects Tristan, deep down he HATES him (obviously out of jealousy). Chion respects his feelings, saying Jade is his next favorite person after Tristan. Speaking of the prince, at the same time MacDuff is exterminated by the flame spirit, Tristan finally reunites with the rest of the group, only to discover the fallen Jade....

NO CHAPTER NEXT WEEK.
