One of the scariest ways to die is buried under rubble, let alone losing your leg to rubble, and that's something that Natsuki (Kensho Ono!) has been carrying with him since his days as a child .
There are worse things to wake up to than a hot Yoko Hikasa waifu coming onto you in your bed with her cleavage in your face and promising a get-rich quick scheme. Even if all she cares about is the money. I'd take that bet though . In a world surrounded by the sea and slowly being consumed by it, people eke out lives as best they can, even if it means living on a boat like Natsuki and having to reckon with the legacy of his grandmother Nonko . Oh look, it's the childhood friend love interest who is always trying to get the protagonist to go back to school and live a safe, normal, life and is totally not in love with him! Best of luck Minamo, you'll need it . Well, I guess in this climate having a sub actually makes a lot of sense, especially when most of the world is under water. That undersea city was pretty unsettling . Of course when our protagonist finds a capsule, in it is none other than a cute girl! Atri, the Humanoid! Perfect for bright smiles and saving you when you accidentally veer your sub off course and have a panic attack . Oof, stepping badly on your prosthetic and almost drowning! But it was the perfect excuse for a beautiful undersea kiss with Atri ! Atri is a high-performance humanoid who is as energetic as she is blase about stuff like death, but is she truly only ruled by her programming? She's certainly and undeniably adorable and her enthusiasm is infectious, so much so that Natsuki can't help but be charmed by her . Natsuki and Catherine COULD very well sell Atri for a lot of money...but is that what Natsuki really wants? Especially when Atri still needs to carry out her last order from her grandmother. Provided she actually remember what it is. Maybe they programmed her to be TOO human ! Was Atri the one who saved Natsuki from the rubble? Either way, she's there for him now to take care of him and be his legs! Though I don't think Catherine is going to care for this development .

I don't think I've seen a main character as dumb as this since Protagonist-kun in Princess Connect! Reive. Here, Mr. Guy first is so startled by Atri opening her eyes that he jerks back so violently that he drives his mini-sub into a wall. Then, upon being rescued, his artificial leg binds up so he tumbles head first into the ocean and... just... decides to drown?? Can he not swim? Can he not try to swim? Meh. Why bother when you can just stare stupidly at the surface and sink to your death?
The rest was equally meh. I definitely don't like our main character. Salvage girl just kinda had no personality other than wanting to sell stuff. The childhood friend's only character trait was... being a childhood friend. There just wasn't much here to like. Even Atri is just a random small robot girl. I didn't find her lack of memories, or the idea that humanity perfected lifelike androids and then just... stopped, compelling at all. And on top of all that, the pacing just felt too fast. We jumped from point to point to point with barely any consideration or gravitas. I will give it some credit. The scene where the main character turned on the faucet at the beginning and we got a camera shot straight up as the water flowed down to the sink was pretty neat. Maybe the most compelling thing about the show, so far!

Was interesting to see that brief imaginary flashback that shows Natsuki as a stereotypical boyish little kid. In the VN he was never particularly lighthearted even as a child in the one pre-trauma flashback we see of him; he's friendlier and hasn't become surly yet, but he was still pretty serious even as a kid.

Cute robot, if nothing else. I was kinda getting a feeling that Atri was like a character(Lily) from a manga called Good Morning Psychopath, but not sure if she'll be unpredictable in the same vein as that series' robot. Seems more like one of those "I'll slowly fall in love with a robot" stories. Frankly, the story felt like a mishmash of things, with nothing being fully fleshed out. Unless the state of the world is going to be a component of the story, its going to need its characters to really carry this story, and as things stand, they don't seem like they'll be able to do that til the end. Hope to be proven wrong, since I tend to like no-nonsense MCs.

Atri is ready to be Natsuki's leg! Even if it means carrying him piggyback all the way into another dip into the sea. Guess he threw off her calculations with his weight. Really endearing yourself, Atri .
The OP is cute and serene, perfect for an adaption of a Visual Novel . So Atri didn't bail on Catherine, Catherine bailed on Atri because her debt collectors are just THAT serious. Jeez woman, how much debt have you racked up ? Atri is a high-performance humanoid! Meaning she screws up and stumbles just like regular humans do! Totally checks out and explains Atri's less than successful moments . Natsuki is liable to keep violating robot rights if Minamo wasn't there to mediate between him and Atri . I guess it would be too much to expect Atri to have the ability to control the sea and end all this trouble they've been having...but I wonder if she's somehow the solution to something . Minamo has a pretty swankly place! Even her own cafe and piano! Guess it comes with being the mayor's daughter, but despite having the priviledge of living on the mainland like her father, she chose to stay behind for Natsuki's sake and for the sake of everyone who couldn't leave. She's not giving up on the island . Natsuki wasn't always so surly and depressed, he had his dreams and ideals too, but his prosthetic leg holding him back and the missile to space halting indefinitely just soured him on everything. But maybe that's why Minamo thinks he needs someone like Atri in his life . She's definitely great comfort when he's having PTSD nightmares in his sleep...less so when he wakes up realizing they slept in the same bed and she starts teasing him about being in love with her. I mean, he probably will fall for her at this rate, but still . So there's no electricity, you have to forage for food and water, it's not really a comfortable existence...but Natsuki still takes care for the kids who need food and even Atri can see the beauty still left in this world. And Natsuki can throw Minamo a bone and show up at school. But why was Atri so pensive about it ? The ED was really cute with Atri leading everyone across the island and then punting Catherine on her bike. Then undersea she punts some crabs. All of it was, of course, an Atri dream !
