I don't see any "women feel compelled to be subservient and keep men happy" gender politics subtext here. I don't think she felt bad over her refusal to put out the cigar but for her word choice being antagonistic/needling ("Don't get so angry just because you can't get your way. Life doesn't always go the way you want it to"). You could easily say that was justified since he'd just called her self-centered and was bothering her, but that's honestly besides the point because you can still feel guilt even in cases where your words/actions were justified. I don't think the narrative was necessarily saying that she was in the wrong or that she owed him an apology, but sometimes if you say/do something that could potentially hurt or upset someone during an argument, you feel bad even if you weren't particularly in the wrong, or even if you were entirely in the right. There's definitely been times where I said something harsh during an argument and even if it was just exerting reasonable boundaries, or self-defense against an aggressive person, I still felt bad and apologized later because it feels unpleasant to do something that negatively influences others no matter who was wrong or right.

Following the cliffhanger from last episode, we are now set in the stage of the Cocktail Awards. Both the Okinawan girl and Kyoko have entered, with us seeing their efforts and the encouragements from their respective mentors.

One other entry of note is Chen (who again looks nothing like he comes from an Asian heritage - not even half, despite his last name).

One of these 3 claimed the top spot, one of them was offered a new position, and one of them broke the rules.

I quite liked the scene where they showed the flashback and the present with the roles reversed. The "customer" left the bar more satisfied than when he entered.

And the final post credits scene revisits the scene from episode 1. Could this be his prior home?

I'm confuse by the ending. It seems that the hotel hired kyoko because sazakura recomendation but the conversation between the old man and the bartender said that sazakura was the only worth it?

Nice chapter, fitting that yuri won since kyoko is still a newbie and chen has daddy issues.

Considering how hyped up this position was, Kyoko was rewarded big time.

I feel like Hotel Cardinal needed someone to operate their bar in the meantime, while still making attempts to hire Ryu (or get him slowly involved).

I may be misremembering but wasn't Kyouko hired for a different position? The Hotel has, if I remember correctly, two bars. A large one for general use, and a small one for a more intimate feel. The president wants Ryuu to work on the later while Kyouko was hired for the former.

Or maybe I'm just misremembering.

with the focus on other bartenders so much compared to the old show, I tend to forget Ryuu is suppose to be the top bartender at times. He barely had much to do the past few bits.

"This isn't some fancy bar in ginza were you show off you bartender skills, there all kind of hospitals.", so true, he may not like what he does but in the end he helps his customers in his own way.

Wow this was a heavy episode. We dive more into Sasakura's past, firstly with him visiting his senpai's bar and later having a conversation that shows the difference in opinion/perception of what it means to be a bartender.

The lady with Kitakara visit Sasakura's bar and have two of the "same" drinks, made slightly differently. I don't think Miwa ever got her drink as she became a background character in that scene.

Then we learn that their sensei is hospitalized because he made bartending his way of life. I quite like the senpai and kohai's dynamic, especially when Kitakara noted that Sasakura should work a "normal" job, but his rebuttal was that the bar was named North Wind for reasons.

Kyoko has started working at the lounge bar, while the grandfather makes arrangements to poach Sasakura, but Miwa is distraught that by doing so, she would be destroying the environment that Sasakura brings to Edenhall.

We are left with a little secret at the end...and it seems like the earlier talk about how a bar can be seen as a hospital comes into play as the drink can either be a cure or poison.

hayase and kimishima story is back and for the looks of it will end in a happy ending, or I hope so and he didn't choose her at the end as a plot twist lol. I guess we will know soon enough.

Late to watch episode 10. I feel like the Grandfather is being overly pushy with that poster. He even convinced Edenhall's owner to tell Sasakura that it's for Sasakura's sake. The fact that Edenhall would shut down is just downright disappointing. I really hope Sasakura DOESN'T go to Hotel Cardinal.

Nice to see two former characters, but it seems he was making the same mistake as before with the new doctor love interest. It seems that by visiting Kitakara's bar, he manned up after downing an entire jug of the Boilermaker so I hope to see them stay together longer.

Kyoko makes an appearance and Sasakura's wise words have rubbed off on her, even though she's got her unprofessional side.

Miwa is the one who helped Sasakura in the end. Truly a valuable guest, and at this point in time, nothing more than that.

I really hope that lone glass in blue flame did not signify Kase-san's passing.

It was nice to see a bit of Sasakura's origin story, of how he started working with his mentor and senpai, and in the present time, helping Miwa's grandfather reconcile with Miwa's late father.

That scene where he proclaimed to treat her was special. I too thought they would share something more than just a friendly smile.

100% that was for his customer in Paris who committed suicide.
