Exclamation Handy vid converter

As the title suggests i have found a handy video converter which can convert mkv files to a mpg file which can than be burnt to dvd or vcd and the best thing is its FREE, works pretty fast and dosn't leave an anoying image or line of text on the completed file but the only problem i have encountered is that it removes the subtitles so if anyone knows how to prevent this plz tell me.

Found here:

p.s. Even though it dosn't state it can't convert mkv it can, you just have to choose all file types form the drop down list when opening your file.

I have finally found the answer to my subtitle problem, its not the smartest thing to do but if you have a bit of spare time i advise you do it.

Here's my way:

Things needed:
Nero (latest version)
Spare time

1.First write down the exact second the subtitle appears, along with what it says and when it ends. Its a pain but worth it in the end.
2.Convert the mkv file to mpeg using Any-Video-Converter.
3.Open Nero and choose to make either a vcd or dvd.
4.Add the mpeg file you just made.
5.Now choose to edit movie.
6.Click on the timeline tab which should be directly under the movie preview, now choose the Text Effects tab in the top right, choose horizontal fade from the text effects then click the blue plus sign.
7.In the box that appears write in your subs, click on font to choose the font you want, size, colour, style, script and effects, choose the duration, position and set the distortion and fade length to 0.
8.Now you can drag the little bar with your subs to were you need it to be.
9.Repeat the process until all subs are inserted.
10. After that you can proceed to menu creation and then eventually burn the disc.

I will add links to pics if anyone needs visuals to assist them.

How about trying Doom9? I believe that you got the wrong forum...
