Got Kino`s Journey and lost intrest in it after the first 4 episodes. Haibane Renmei looks good. I`m not big on sci-fi animes though.

Kino's Journey is not psychological as much as it is philosophical, that and its far form being a thriller of any kind. Also Haibane Renmei is not in Sci-fi genre, but rather in the fantasy/mystery/slice of life genres. It, like Kino's Journey is not however a thriller. The only series I can recommend to you would be Monster, though I warn you it's incredibly complex and its rewards are great but only if you stick with it as its one of the lengthier series at 74 episodes.

Try Death Note very good anime, definitely makes you think and questions what is truly good and evil.

You have got to try Elfen Lied- Once again very pyschological, questions who and what is truly human...

Thats about all i can think of right now.

The problem is your description in the title, "psychological thriller" does not match either nhk, nor haruhi. It does match Evangelion though. NHK is "psychological" but not "thriller".

So, what would you like to see ? ^^

Higurashi no naku koro ni is alsoan awesome psych-thriller. Kinda bad ending tough, but that's for you to decide.

Monster is definitely a psychological thriller. I'm a fan of NHK, but I'd recommend Monster before it.

Since when is Welcome to the NHK a psychological thriller?
Go for Monster, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni or Paranoia Agent if you really want psycho-thriller and not something like Haruhi or Welcome to the NHK.

'Yes, and that is why we seek light.'

Suprised no one mentioned Ghost in the Shell stand Alone Complex (both gigs really, but Laughing Man saga of gig 1 is "psycological-city")

Gunsliger Girl is another anime that appears to be one thing but is actually something else...It's less of an action assassin fighter and more of a psycological journey into the lives and minds of seemingly souless young girls re-created for the purpose of killing...The atmosphere is admittedly mild at times, but it is a thriller of sorts...

Also I wouldn't say it's a stretch to include Big O and Ergo Proxy eventhough both of these shows hover around pretentious non-sensical aspects...Both will give you a good brain-screw that's for sure...

Also Boogiepop Phantom will make your head hurt in psycological horror in addition to most of the titles already mentioned (Oh, sorry no cutsey haruhi-ish characters found here)...
Fly since ...

Elfen Lied was friggen great! Paranoia Agent was not too bad, didnt like stand alone complex. Seen big o, meh, was ok. Gunslinger Girl looks good. Sorry about the title navel, I guess what im looking for is an anime that will make you think, like nkh or haruhi.
