This is a favorite mech poll not best mech. Hence, pilots do play a considerable part in determining whether people like that mobile or not. People don't like Suzaku for quite obvious reasons and people won't vote for Lancelot because of that. All in all, Lancelots specs are quite superb.

After watching a whole bunch of mech series where frames/suits/etc. rely predominantly on firepower, it's refreshing to see suits like the Guren, Lancelot or the ones that Cornelia's knights use, even if it isn't practical for them to use lances . Melee combat is more interesting IMO .

It's refreshing to see mechas that actually move at speeds that would be realistic on a battlefield. KFs are probably the most manuverable mechas I've seen (they're the most realistic mecha ever, IMO). Though I agree with you, the Glouchester, Guren, and Lancelot are nice with their close in deal. Too bad KFs are so poorly armored it doesn't really matter >_<. The guren is probably the most practical of the close combat mechs, since its attack at close range is SO much more powerful then anything else (other then the Lancelot's "buster rifle" :heh).

I agree that pilot ability, and how the unit is used has a major part in it's effectiveness out on the battlefield. Clearly Suzaku's head on style is going to put his unit in more danger than the Guren or Gawain will be in since they are used intelligently in a good strategy.
Though when picking my favourite mechs I tried to put pilots out of mind, though honestly its tough to do that. Since in some cases how good the pilot has to be is directly affecting the units use. I simply like Lancelot because of its overall potential and excellent abilities. Now if it was used to that potential then it would be better off. Certainly its skill can be a detriment, because its going to take a really good pilot to make the best use of it. Your going to need a really skilled pilot for Lancelot, which isn't always going to be easy to find. Though I guess if you only have one, as long as you find that one pilot and take good care of them your good to go. Any unit piloted not just by Zero but adding in C.C. is just going to dominate any poll I figure. I certainly like parts of it from the sheer firepower, to the interesting 'finger daggers, or whatever the appropriate term is'. Really it has a good edge just on energy. Whatever that thing is running on, to be able to fly and have those cannons is a serious edge. It's just my preference to units like Lancelot and Gawain that move quick and can get right into the thick of things. Both have good offense and also good defense. With the Gueren using it's claw arm to do both at the same time. Guess it's just personal opinion, about what you like in a unit and whether you take pilots into account. But that's what a poll is all about. If anything sounded odd, I fall onto the defence of writing late at night . |

Just a small correction. It's not Boatman, it's Portman. All mass-produced Britannian Knightmares are named after places in the UK.
Glasgow = Largest city in Scotland Sutherland = A county of Scotland Gloucester = A town in South West England, in the county of Gloucestershire Portman = An estate in London |

I thought the finger blades were interesting, but it would be better implemented on something with hand to hand combat. Gawain doesn't really engage in that kind of fighting so it would never have a real practical use, except maybe as a flashy finish like what it did against Euphemia's frame. It's difficult to dodge, but overall, it'd be rather easy to avoid it given how frames are "lightweight" by standards and agile.

*clears throat* I mean, that's one heck of a mech. Go Guren Nishiki! I wonder if Laksharta improves it. I mean, it was damaged in ep23 so it's probably in Laksharta's hands right now, being repaired and whatnot. Maybe she'll make it fly? Yup, they're Gawain's current pilots. |
