I voted 9/10. My reason is same with the others...
the story is great, character design is very good, animation quality is good.. BUT the story is too short.. I'm shocked when i saw episode 13..whaaaat,this is already ending?? I thought my file was corrupted,so i immediately ran to the shop to change with the new one..but..it is really really only 13 episodes!! BUT again, i know there will be season 2 soon,so my heart is full of joy cant wait..i'm soo impatient!! |

I finished it last night and I rate it a 9/10.
Despite being similar in many ways to Shana (which I loved, also), and feeling kinda like a copy sometimes, there was enough different (or at least masked differently) for me to just laugh for 13 straight episodes and love it. ^_^ I really liked Yuu.... er..... Saito.... Describing what all the things were from Earth that the people thought were priceless artifacts. LOL The stave of destruction... LOL M-72 LAAW: 2 Magic: 0 Oh yeah.

Yeah what i enjoyed the most out of this anime was the fact that instead of magic dominating technology, it was completely the other way around.. It's hilarious to see that out of all the magic that they can do, modern technology still beats the crap out of them..lol

Major awesomes: - Good storyline, though rushed in the end. Ends on a rather nice note. - Faithful adaptation. - Makes huge mention of the magic vs Earth technology theme. - Consistent, albeit average, animation. - Voice acting is pretty good. Problems: - Screen wipe is extremely annoying. I never thought J.C. Staff (with Honey & Clover and Shakugan no Shana in its record) would stoop so low as to use that for every scene change. I really hope I don't see that again in the 2nd season. - Music is repetitive and basically a copy from Rozen Maiden. Granted, it's from the same composer, but hearing stuff from another anime repetitively made me uneasy. |

Hans Zimmer is, hands down, the best composer in the land of movies. He's used this one particular piece, in one form or another, in about 4 movies. I really don't care. I love it. He can use it over and over and it sounds like it's the first time. He's just that good.

I gave it an 8, but I'm tempted to say I regret it, it might be worth a 9. I truly did enjoy the series, there was never a moment I didn't anxiously await the next turn of events, and it kept me interested all the way.

I just finished watching the first season the other day and I'm not really sure what I think of it.
I mean, the story wasn't at all challenging, the climax came to late and was over too soon and it failed to achieve any sense of epic-ness; the characters were cliche, the romance was contrived and very little character development happened; the music was repetitive, the character designs were run-of-the-mill, the animation was nothing to write home about, and the screen wipe made me vomit in my mouth a little... But, for all these faults, I couldn't bring myself to dislike it. Oddly enough, I found myself enjoying it a lot more than I really should have. It was just a lot of fun. So, judging it on its individual parts I'd give it a 5/10. But, for some reason, looking at it as a whole I'd give it as much as 8/10. It's odd how these things happen... |
