I couldn't help but think of Nakameguro from Seitokai no Ichizon whenever I see the main character here. It doesn't help that the collars of guys' uniforms look a lot like sailor uniforms (emphasizing the feminine looking part here)...
That BGM that was being played when Ogasawara was being chased was lovely.

It was all one VN that came out for the PSP with an introductory arc that was skipped in both the anime and the manga as it seems (well the manga condensed it into a ca.5 pages promo) and several branching arcs with different endings. It's much more like a typical VN than the When they Cry entries. And yeah it's rumored to be about 12 episodes long if I remember right. Meaning they either stick to one or two arcs, or they throw everything together in a blender.

Unless of course AIC is different, which can further my opinion that Chiru needs to be done by another studio.

Funnily Umineko and Higurashi were so different from each other when it comes to the plot. Perhaps Ryukishi concentrates more on Umineko so he didn't give it all in this case. |

I don't know anything about the source material (which is probably for the better), but I can say that I definitely enjoyed the episode.
It gives off that Higurashi vibe that I enjoyed so much. The en medias res was a nice touch too, I think. Spoiler for episode 1:
Now, my main concern is on whether the culprit is purely supernatural or otherwise. What we're shown so far seems to point towards the former, but R07's other works have led me to suspend my judgment on this matter.

So naturally the story would be a bit less intricate, especially because Umineko was already being written when Ookamikakushi came around. And well, we still have different arcs this time around, but everything seems a bit less difficult...and the anime is making things even more obvious.

Just finished the first episode and I have to say, this is promising. Very promising. I can't wait to see the next episode, and I'm more exicted than ever to actually get the VN for the PSP. I really liked what I saw Hiroshi seems like a really cool character and the main reason for this, imo, is that he strikes me as a very normal person in a place full of people living in a world set apart from the one he left behind. He's very, very similar to K1 in that respect, which makes me happy because it looks like Ryukishi07's decided to go back to the Higurashi theme. And while I normally detest characters who get attached to the hero in a flash and become all clingy, Izumi didn't really hit me as someone to detest, and when considering the beginning of the ep, I think she's doing it to protect him from something. I can't wait what kind of murders Ryukishi has in store for us.
