Yam is undeniably very smart and powerful, but Aladdin is her first and only student. He's also the only magician she's interacted with in over a decade. Her formal training taught her how to be a magician, not how to be a teacher. If Aladdin weren't as smart and powerful as Yam herself, they would have met many road blocks due to her approach.

I think most scientists would know to start with the basics though. Really I was just worried that Aladdin would be de-powered and regressed for the sake of plot (I wouldn't want a character that's shown the ability to use elite moves like Solomon's Wisdom and defeat powerful opponents then suddenly become a novice) but that doesn't seem to be the case anyway. One episode is perfectly reasonable for this kind of thing.

Now that Aladdin is 1st Kodor things will change.
Not that it will get easier, probably more challenging.
Alibaba really is a mess when he's on his own.
He's also totally pathetic...
Looks like everyone is going to school.
Must be a new trend.
That Alibaba never achieved anything without help from others.
I just can't picture him as a successful gladiator.
1st season was so much better than this.
This season clearly lacks new adventures and real action.

I realize the character was sort of bad-ass, so I do feel a little bad for saying this, but hearing Asumi Kana toughen it up for the role as Toto was too adorable. Just irresistibly cute.

Overall I found this episode far less exciting than Aladdin's. Hopefully the gladiatorial battles will make up for it, I am anxious to see how Alibaba will take out the... whatever that thing was.

I have to wonder how on earth Alibaba survived at the beginning of the first season. He seemed relatively able to survive. Maybe giving the guy a bit of power has made him incredibly careless?

For a tough character I'd agree that Toto was pretty cute. The voice really does make her pretty adorable.

Same, I think it is the humor. First season got a bit too dreary especially in the 2 nd half.
