this makes me remember when once in a morning a beggar entered the subway asking for money. she did stink as if the took a bath in crap. everyone ignored her, holding their scarfs etc. under the nose(because of the smell). only one person(a girl right in front of me) picked purse from her bag, takeing out all her changemoney.
when she gave it to the beggar, she(the beggar), after looking at the money, threw it back at the girl, yelling "what the hell am i supposed to do with this small coins" and then leaving to enter the next waggon.

Cool, it occurred to me that I posted earlier w/o actually posting my work that shows he basically ripped off MD Scans, as well as some mistranslations that occurred due to following the manga scanlation (line was changed in the anime or manga scanlator had it wrong). Okay.

MD Scans vol. 1 vs Shiki Subs 1, spoilered for length:

pg14 - MD Scans: "Koh! Take me to swimming school on your bike."
4:46 - Shiki Subs: "Ko, take me to swimming school on your bike."

pg16 - MD Scans: "Shut up! I'm just taking her to swimming school." / "That's perfect. When you're done, join the team. We're low on members."

Mistranslation on the 2nd line. As it is now, he's making it sound like, "Join the team forever dude we don't have enough people period." In reality, he's only saying that they're low right now/today/etc. (Miss: 今日)

pg16-17 - MD Scans: "No way, baseball sucks..." / "The hell is this?! You were the one who said we should make a team in the first place!" / "Oh yeah, thanks for buying all the uniforms and gear."
5:47 - Shiki Subs: "No way, baseball sucks." / "Hey! Aren't you the one who said we should make a team in the first place?!" / "Oh yeah. Thanks for buying all the baseball gear and uniforms."

Mistranslation on "in the first place" on the 2nd line. He says that Kou told them to make the team in class. (Miss: クラスで)

pg17 - MD Scans: "You mean you just said that to sell more stuff?!" / <em>"Yes sirree, I be's a hardworkin' man."</em> / "I hear he gets more allowance for bringing in big orders." / "Thanks." / "You tricked us!" / "So have fun with your low-membered team!" / "You punk! Get back here!"

pg24 - MD Scans: "Hey! Hi guys. I mean, fellow teammates!" / "What is it now?" / "<em>What I couldn't say earlier because of the girl, is that</em> I've never once forgotten about this team. Mistranslation on the first and last lines here. On the first one he's like, "lol didn't mean to make you guys wait hurf." (Miss: おまたせ blah blah) On the last one, he should've just copypasted from it again. Nakanishi is talking about Kou's clothes. (Miss: 普段にしてやがるな)

pg30 - MD Scans: "Continuing onward, we go to the bottom of the 5th, doors to bat." / "<em>Hey! Hold on a sec! You're going too fast! First explain how it was I gave up five runs!</em> All because of your four errors!"
8:35 - Shiki Subs: "Its now the bottom of the fifth inning and it's the doors turn to bat, with only three innings left until the end of the game." / "If it wasn't for your four errors it would be a one-sided game!"

What he actually says on the 1st line: "It's the bottom of the 5th, tied 5 to 5, and the Doors are up to bat! What a thrilling game." ...fuck :effort: @ putting what the JP is for this. 五回点 = 5 pts. He seemingly thought that Kou says three inning in Engrish instead of thrilling? (スリリングなゲーム)

pg34 - MD Scans: "Continuing onward, we enter the last inning, bottom of the 6th, trailing the Pons 7-6." / "Hang on! Would you mind explaining how we gave up two runs in the top of the 6th?"
9:30 - Shiki Subs: "We enter the last inning, bottom of the sixth with the Doors trailing by one, can they make a comeback and win this?!" / "Its your error in the top of the six inning which gave up two runs!"

What he actually says on the 1st line: "Bottom of the 6th, the Doors trail by one, no outs, and a chance to score with the guy on first. Can they turn this around?"
What he actually says on the 2nd line: "IF YOU HADN'T FUCKED UP SIX TIMES..."
"No outs" is spoken in Engrish. coj found me a dictionary entry where it says [#]塁のチャンス is like saying, "We have a guy on base [whatever]."

I stopped around 9.5mins out of boredom. I also didn't include every manga scanlator similar line because I was tired of typing.

Here's the error mentioned in the AniDB where he copypasted the manga tl and it was wrong later in the episode.

pg166 - MD Scans: "Wakaba was swimming to help a 3rd grade girl who had her foot caught in a hole..."
18:35 - Shiki Subs: "Wakaba-chan was swimming to save a third grade student who had her foot trapped and was unable to move."

What the guy is actually saying: "Wakaba-chan was swallowed by the current while trying to help a younger girl who got her legs/feet caught in a deeper area." (わかばちゃんは 深み足を足を取られた隔世の女のこ助けようとして 流れに巻き込まれてということです。)

Please, that argument is old, tired and irrelevant anyway.

Just because Shiki-subs made a sub doesn't give us obligation to watch it. We're acknowledging our gratitude by downloading and watching the sub, enjoying it without complaint isn't part of the deal. Critiquing the fansubber is as much fair game as critiquing the studio that made it, because they didn't pay us to watch their anime either. The purpose of anime is for entertainment, so if people are not amused they have the right to express why.

I've only worked on a handful of sub projects, so I can't really speak for a professional subber, but from my experience subbers work on anime so they can share enjoyment with other people. If it's for PR points, it's usually kept private, because most people don't care about another person's PR.

Shiki-subs is making a matter of the PR points and is deliberately spiteful to the people who've already expressed gratitude by watching the sub. On top of it, previous subs aren't even authored by Shiki-subs, so it's a half-arsed project to boot.

I think it would be best if that group isn't allowed to upload anymore subs, if not for the two trolls but the plagiarism as well. Neither separately, but both together.

I find that the reaction to re-encodes to be mixed. I know of some groups who particularly despise those who re-encode/re-upload episodes of their series (especially when it can be used against them) or for PR points. I know there's the cases of Drama fansubbers who are trying to fight (in their own way since they legally have no rights about it) those who upload their episodes to streaming sites and renaming their episodes.

Though I admit to being a bit disgusted by the stolen translations, especially the Wakaba line with the news...? That's a bit more serious...

I have a feeling I might not like that brat of a male lead in this show. I know the mangaka is known for great storytelling, but damn that kid is just not likable. He's more of a sportswear salesman than anything.. And what worse, that baseball club drama in ep 3 just seems VERY convenient. Fights, lousy coaches/3rd-year players... Melodrama 101 right there.

that is what make the story so good. I have never liked this type of relationships, when hate turns into love. In this case Aoba's feelings have a reason, respect for Wakaba.

Is it just me or are some of the uploaded subbed episodes corrupted? Shiki's episode 1 and 3 files from mininova had horribly corrupted skipping sound and video as if the compression was botched. Only the subbed episode 2 was working at any level, I ended up watching Central Anime's episode 1 work and I have yet to watch episode 3 because I can't find any working files.
