Index has always been Touma's top priority since he lost his memories. It never changed. Fans should just accept it already

Misaki's relationship with touma feels like more of tragic hopeless love story than anything.

As far which has best chance, honestly، it's still index as far story goes. Whatever it's romantically or not, the person Touma cares about most is still Index.

Simply put, Misaki's romantic subplot is a tragedy. No matter what she does she won't be part of Touma's life.
Mikoto's lost sight or is naive and relates being on the same ground as him as being part of his world.
Meanwhile what they hope for themselves, Index already owns it since OT1, and the author hasn't tried to challenge that at all and touched it again on this volume.

It doesn't really matter since romance is barely there and rarely matters. Unless we are talking about Shiage of course.

For what is worth, the author said long ago that he would pick Mikoto as his best friend while Index would be his lover.

Honestly, aside from Shiage and Takitsubu any romance in Toaru would be cringe in my eyes. The best Kamachi could do with romance is use it as a plot device

Talking about romance, did Touma actually gave up with that?
Last time I remember, there was a old man that sent a love letter to Touma and called him out on his school roof.
After Touma rejected his confession of love, the old man destroyed Touma's school out of broken heart.
I wonder if Touma is going to throw away the love letters before even reading them from now on?

IIRC he said part of him knew it a trap all along and went along with it anyway. He flirts with girls often but I think he gave up on the idea of being with a girl long ago lol

Touma is either gonna die, is going to end single with many girls still chasing after him or having a harem ending. To be honest, single ending is likely but death is up there with it.

If Touma doesn't permanently die before the end of the entire series, I imagine he'll just stay caring for Index and Othinus while a bunch of girls are still chasing him. Its because while we've seen girls show feelings for Touma, he's yet to reciprocate anything beyond the average reaction for his age to situations, except for slight interest in Orsola's dorm manager behavior. Unless the Tokiwadai Dorm Manager is around his age or there's some other dorm manager out there interested, Touma's bond with the girls in the series is more he cares about them and they love him. And there's no signs of that changing at this time, unless Kamachi rushes things just to achieve a ship. Which isn't the kind of thing he'd do.
