Is this anime mostly about the kingdom of Shu? It looks that way. Anyone have the link where it shows who's the characters supposed to portray? I couldn't find it. (unless it's in the game thread)

When I looked at the staff and cast, this was about the least likely of the summer anime to be good. But I enjoyed ep1. I can even see this becoming a bit of a cult classic, if they keep it up. Good pacing, cute, funny, with some completely over-the-top moments. As long as you turn your brain off at the door. The whole set-up reminds me a bit of the court ladies enacting naval battles for entertainment at the Tang court.
And kaosmos, when I looked at the official site and checked the seiyuu, I'd never heard of most of them, and when I checked the seiyuu pseudonyms site, it seemed they were just about all erogame seiyuu. I did notice Seki Tomokazu in the end credits, however, I think as Rinrin's elder brother (I still can't call her Zhang Fei, lol.) The official site has a list of 26 characters. So I think they just used the game cast to make the anime. I think they did a good job. This is hardly high drama, just a super-moe entertainment.

The whole all-female cast thing isn't anything new.....well outside of comedy's posing as slice of life it kind of is, but in general no. Either way, this season features a show with an all male cast so I guess there's a counter-trend attempt going on now to. I wouldn't be surprised to learn if some of the male VA's are unionizing and engaging in collective bargaining.

I admit that I know nothing about the Three Kingdoms (except that one should apparently pursue (or not purse) Lu Bu...these things get picked up along the way), so going into this series, the moe was my only reason.
Having seen the first episode, it's not too bad. I like the cute chibi moments, the music's alright, and it delivers on the fun. Hopefully there's at least some decent battles from here on out, though it's got quite a large cast to go through. Last edited by Midonin; 2008-07-10 at 22:12. |
