Now I'm a bit confused. Sheryl was an orphan on the Galaxy colonization fleet and very young when she was found by Grace. Other than by name, is there any evidence that she is indeed Mao's granddaughter? I mean Grace could have known about the granddaughter and then given it to Sheryl (the orphan).

You really can't compare this to Ranka X alto kiss. Ranka was concious when that happened.

Sheryl does have the v-type virus so she's likely from the 117th fleet. I don't think Grace would randomly pick somebody from the goodness of her heart off the street and by luck found out the girl has the virus so she can be used to control the vajra. Anything else would be too complicated to explain with one episode left.

I had the impression that for her research (as found by Klan) she infected Sherly with the virus after she took her in

When Klan did the research, she looked at the picture with Grace, Mao, and Ranshe in it. That picture was taken before the destruction of the 117th research fleet. After the fleet was destroyed, she found Sheryl again and took her in.

It makes sense that both Sheryl and Ranka were infected, but Sheryl's was through the blood stream and Ranka was through the womb. Grace mentioned that Sheryl was the failed experiment and Ranka was the sucessful one. It makes it seem like they were experimented at the same time with two different methods for control and observation purposes.

I think so too. But that does _not_ exclude her from being Mao's granddaughter.

And that old picture suggests that Sheryl's mother is not in close contact with Mao (i.e. born on the Global research expedition). Otherwise, she would not need to send the photo telling Mao that she has a new granddaughter, as she'd already know. She became an orphan in the intervening years for unrelated reasons.

I believe Sheryl's family used to be in MG. This post card is sent from MG to 117th fleet.

I agree so. I think Grace takes only because she is Mao's child, V-type is something happens after that.

Forgive her, please. Let's repeat this line - "It's all Kawamori's fault." Ranka is Ranka Lee not Ranka Sue. Ranka is just a normal brat so don't ask too much from her.

the difference between alto and ranka was that Alto choose on his own to be the hero and go save ranka. Ranka kind of was forced into her "savior" role. She ended rejecting that role!

The letter that Cathy reads specifically has Sheryl's mom say "Mom, I will give your earrings to my daughter" as it shows the picture of her with Sheryl.
