Oh an anime. Though like others said I feel a bit awkward about the animation.
Though the 5 idiots actually looks like they are chracters from an Otomege in the animation. Just the main charcters looks off.

Overall I prefer the manga design.

Now how many episode would this be and how many volumes will be animated is the main concern.

Considering how they butchered the character design, probably another generic 12 episodes/3 volumes adaptation

Oh damn. It took even the manga to reach volume 3 to cover the first volume of LN. And its expected that the manga would complete the second volume of LN plot when the manga releases its eighth volume.

Marie Route translation is done, but the translator is getting worn down so I worry about the next one.

i never read the marie route, but according to your review and pieces bit i heard, it is pretty interesting so far on how this either lead to bad ending or not. however, what bother me the most is that, are the catalyst that really cause this changes only from marie choosing not to have a harem? or is there any other causes prior to that, choices that leon made himself?

Leon accidentally saw and preemptively stop Marie from seducing The Five Idiots, consequently leading to Marie and Leon meeting each other and exposing their reincarnators status much earlier than the main story but much less bad blood between them(along with author Deus Ex Machina away the part where they recognize each other as their previous life sibling), which caused the main events unfolded just like how it should had been in the game

Long story short:

Effectively, the key point is that Leon caught Marie planning on getting Julius to like her and pegged her as a reincarnator. He intervened long enough for Olivia to do what she was supposed to in the game's canon rather than main story canon and explained to Marie how its supposed to go to stop her from trying to keep intervening (so Marie doesn't force the banishment event to happen two years before its supposed to like in the main story, which is when Leon first actively intervenes). However, neither of them realized that the Saintess Items were possessed of Ann's evil spirits who has it out for the Kingdom, hence why in the game Olivia was seen as a manipulative witch and became the antagonist of the third game in the series if I'm remembering right, when Hertruda's sister was originally supposed to pop up.

Bascially, all of this was background stuff in the original game that never got the spotlight. If Marie doesn't take Olivia's place with the Harem, its pretty much on route to go this way. Same as with the Alzer arc, where the presence of Leila who had incomplete information just like Leon and Marie did about the game's backstory went unopposed and never sought out Ideal making Luxion aware of it to intervene.

So Marie and Leon screwing with the plotline ultimately benefitted everyone else, but if they really stayed in the background as mobs then this is the result that happens. It's a domino effect:

Leon and Marie stay out of it > Olivia gets bullied until possession > Saintess uses Olivia's body and voice to rile up the boys into destroying their own power bases > War happens and a lot of people die > Saintess recognized by the Church > Duel between Leon and the others for Angelica (he loses intentionally) > Saintess bumps off Fanoss Princess and Maquis > Civil War
