STF have more shots to the trash and the boss, whereas the squishies are more vulnerable in CTF.

It is way more doable than E2 boss with its completely retarded armor, moreso if you use historical ships or Vernyi with their bonus damage.

Kidou might sounds like a gamble compared to Suijou because of the ammo penalty, but the dive bomber bonus and initial air strikes pretty much put that composition on par with Suijou.
I didn't bother bringing Hayasui, but if you do, that Kidou composition is probably the best in term of success rate compared to the rest.

That's the thing I'm worried about about Kidou but getting sniped at node B isn't funny at all.

Also, my LBAS are doing shit. I'm using 1 fighter+3 bombers, all maxed rank and they do shit.

I do bring Abukuma, Hatsushimo and Vernyi but problem is they kept getting targeted. If no one is down, Hatsushimo gets targeted first, if Hatsushimo is down, my Vernyi gets targets and no one gets to attack. It's pretty demoralising to see them getting targeted first. For the entire E-5H runs, my Hatsushimo was a sitting duck because she ALWAYS gets picked off without fail. I've never in my whole life see so much hate for a ship.

If Kidou is good enough to ensure escort survival on the way to boss, I don't mind trying it. I'm just worried about how the escort might get taken out before yasen happens.

Entire day was spent clearing E-5H and the entire day when I get to boss, Hatsushimo gets sniped and she does nothing again. 0 yasen damage total in E-5H.

6 ships alive, and she HAS to aim the one she's been ALWAYS aiming the ENTIRE day.

I give up for the day. Going to try tomorrow. This is honestly damn depressing.

If STF don't serve you well, switch to CTF. Have a change of scenery.
It's the last map. There's no reason not to try different compositions, even if it's only for the sake of staying sane.

I did have more success with CTF than STF on E5H, without Hayasui but with Vernyi and 2 historical ships.

Historical ships(minus Ashigara) + russian ships + certain planes do more damage in e5, so a CTF will all in all have an easier time if equipped right.
Moreover you can enter the boss node with superiority or supremacy, while not having a deadbeat, depending on how you equip your carriers.

For those who used Kidou Butai in E-5H, how do you load your CVs?

I'm sick and tired of using Suijou already. Even with my escorts sparkled, it's still pointless. In the event I get past B somehow(90% I'll get a very bad chuuha/multiple chuuhas), either F or N will screw shit up.

I'm going to try Kidou Butai now. I still have resources to downgrade but I don't want to because I refused to downgrade just because of RNG. If I still cannot pull this off with Hayasui, I'm quitting this game for good. I'm honestly very tired of this shit already.

I don't know how people have their escorts all green reaching boss node using Suijou while I always have problems. Even at this point my Hatsushimo is STILL being sniped like always. If using Kidou Butai with Hayasui as a last straw isn't going to work then nothing will because I had clean kills before so I know it's not a problem with my fleet setup but RNG just not giving me any chance.

So for Kidou Butai, do you load your CVs with DB only? Does the multiplier still work if I equip 1 DB only and the rest with TB?

You only need a dive bomber to get the multiplier, so you can put your torpedo bombers on the largest slots for the opening strike and the dive bomber on the smaller slot.

Note, not all planes I used here do extra damage. At the time I did the map the wiki still just said dive bombers. By not it is known that its just specific dive bombers (See wiki)

Yeah, in STF, I turned my ChitoChiyo into Greens Mules, just to gain AS. I guess I got lucky with B node and Wo Kai. Otherwise, I may have given up on STF and gone CTF. I did throw the towel with CTF because the squishies were too vulnerable for my liking even with support exped.

I hope my bauxite can last. My starshell didn't activate as well......another choke.

I'm thinking of replacing the AP shell on Bismarck with the searchlight but since the normal searchlight usually doesn't work, am wondering how useful is the huge searchlight? Is it viable to swap the AP shell for a huge searchlight on Bisko?

EDIT: Oh right, my boss support choked somehow, missing everyone. RNG really hates me.

EDIT2: Or is it better I swap Bisko with Kasumi(luck unmodded), give her TCI setup with searchlight?

not sure if it will help but the wiki claims that LBAS have a high dmg modifier against the e5 boss.
- the thing about just certain ones was on e4 btw my bad.

Might also count for e5 though.

Go 0/4 bombers for the second and third LBAS.
For the first, either 4/0 to prevent LBAS losses from enemy bombardment, or 0/4 and double down on RNG.

Yes, send all your LBA to the boss node. You want every dice rolls you can get. Also, you may try swapping Bis for Kiso. Not only Kiso was in the 5th fleet, she's also another opening torp girl.

If I had Kiso I'd have used her already honestly speaking. This is the best I can muster(yes I didn't bother leveling Kiso because she looks really ugly unfortunately).

The 5th fleet members I have(that matters here) are only: Kasumi, Hatsushimo, Vernyi and Abukuma.

I don't get it, my yatei isn't activating most of the time even when the activation is >50%.......sigh

EO provides easy way to share your current fleet either with text or image. Right click the top rectangular which shows the fleet’s name, AP, LoS, etc.

Back to your fleet.
1. Forget FCF.
2. Equip jet if you have. They grant damage multiplier on top of the dive bomber one.
3. The benefit of upgrading Tomonaga to Tenzan probably outweighs deranking.
4. You should use Egusa and Suisei 601 instead of lesser Suisei.
5. I’m pretty sure your Yamato and Musashi are over the parallel firepower cap. Replace a gun with one that provides more accuracy.
6. Squeeze as many bombers into your CV as possible, starting with moving fighters into the slot left by FCF.
7. If your Kasumi is at K2, replace Hatsushimo with her. Even if not, 4n is still a valid reason for replacement.
8. Equip Abukuma with 20.3cm guns if her luck isn’t modded. If modded, equip for TCI.
9. You should consider equipping Kitakami for TCI.
10. You should consider replacing Bismarck or Ooi with Nachi.
