I always thought that the attack on Princess Apricot (prologue of vol 3) should be done in 5- 7 minutes or less, as it is only 10 pages, and no Ritsu singing . Chapter 4 was the preparation to attack, while Chapter 5 was after the attack (Jenny's request, Silent Whisper etc). Air time should be allocated to when Marika was recruiting, and when the Yacht Club was preparing the ship.
I still find it funny though: A Masquerade Pary is being raid by girls in costumes . I guess the production team couldn't effort to draw costumes for the Princess Apricot's Captain and passengers (and Chiaki too)

With Lynn's reveal, I'm suddenly wondering about how the crew got exposed to the infected animals in the first place. In Ep. 14 it was indicated that the crates were intentionally tampered with, leading to the crew's quarantine, the result of which was that Marika had to get a new crew.
Logically, the first people she'd turn to would be the yacht club. If that wasn't enough, Chiaki and her father made sure that would happen. ...and now Lynn has a pirate ship in hand ready to run off and rescue Jenny. Makes me wonder if Jenny and/or Lynn weren't behind the outbreak in the first place.

I don't think so. Lynn's communication with someone who I'm assuming is Jenny indicated that the wedding was going to happen sooner than they expected. Given the scheduled flight plan of the Odette II, they can't be planning for this trip to last more than a few days, so the original date of Jenny's wedding almost certainly wouldn't have overlapped with the trip.
Besides, if Lynn has the means to hire the Bentenmaru for the job, she'd be better off just hiring it with the regular crew. She's not so foolish as to think that her girls are actually better qualified for this rescue/kidnapping than an experienced group of pirates who have almost certainly done kidnappings before (given that they have a room specifically for keeping people that they've kidnapped). |

Episode 16
Daily Lives of High School Girl Pirates...
This episode wasn't as entertaining compared to episode 15 probably because we don't see the Bentemaru crew freaking out constantly. It's still ok, but the last episode was better. I kind of face palm myself when I saw the cosplay kiddies raiding a cruise liner. I was thinking to myself, "Like. Really?!" Then the old guys making moves on the little pirates was....interesting.

Not main character-ish enough? Mami's presence is more felt through her cosplay costumes, rather than on screen presence. At this point, she's just a side character, despite being included in the OP/ED sequence as one of Marika's main partners.

I have finally seen episode 16.
Chiaki-chan, I share your pain. *bashes head against the wall* Mami, I would not normally be against cosplay for cute girls, but I am against cosplay when it DOES NOT FIT THE THEME. As a future designer, you should know that ;__; *headdesks* Also, next week, the kidnapping of love. It appears that excretions will become coherent. And a corporate fleet? Sounds like the Doolittle Shipping line have their own screening elements to protect their cargo convoys. Though when I saw it, I immediately thought of EVE Online.

So with episode 16, we are told that there are other cameras onboard the Bentenmaru for the sick crew to use to spy with. And the doc would rather let the new crew to try to handle the work on their own. If you didn't catch that, it's kind of a old potty training reference, now that the old crew had taught the new crew most of everything they needed to learn. Not that the doc doesn't have any further concern with the new crew, but may mean that she's on to cyborg boy's toilet cams.

In my theorized world of Moretsu, I called them "Escort Freighters". These would be small civilian lighters with jump capability modified (often illegally) with weapons and armor to be able to defend against/slow down pirates while the cargo freighters cycled down their warp drive. Its a job not for the faint-hearted, as escort captains go against foes that are fast and bristling with firepower with small, relatively fragile ships with too many weapons and too overpowered engines. The escort freighter is named as such to avoid giving the impression that civilian shipping companies were fielding warships. (In my fic, the Crest Eagle is one of the last surviving escort freighters. And all you Trek fans can probably smell the thick Defiant fragance in this post. Which btw, is centered on a shipping hub.)

Convoy Escort Programme Ltd 's private navy service and it's backed by the marine insurance industry (U.K. insurance and reinsurance broking company Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group Plc). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8JV746Qnms Bentenmaru and Barbarossa are also backed by Harry Llyod Insurance Union. Space is a very large area to cover i.e. private companies should be paying for the bills not the tax payers. Last edited by encia; 2012-04-25 at 09:34. |

One wonders how the girls are going to board the ship Jenny is on. Unless they've cleaned the engines, the Bentenmaru is still going to be a bit slow verses the escorts and battleship.
We don't know if the escorts are with whatever ship Jenny is one when the Bentenmaru arrives. Only that they are blasting away at it as some point. Also one wonders about the sort of side plot that has been running the entire arc so far. Marika's mother's new job. Will she be captain of the ship Jenny is on and thus let the Bentenmaru board? Will they try to fake a routine "piracy" job like they do for he liners in order to kidnap Jenny? They would need an insider to do that. Or insist they are delivering some Princesses from Serenity to the wedding (which they are). I'm fairly sure they aren't going to just bust out the normal crew for this job and just use the High School Pirates to get Jenny. Means combat experiance, though hopefully they won't need a full on serious boarding action/firefight to get Jenny out. But then, Marika's mom told her that most of the time having a big gun is enough to stop a firefight...as no one wants holes in their spaceship. And finally, one wonders if Chiaki's father won't be shadowing them, in case of trouble.
