you know, the one where she was presented with a choice to either 1)betray lelouch so suzaku can kill him 2)be injected against her will with the same drug that almost destroyed her mother's mind, and THEN betray lelocuh under the effect of the drug kallen is not a victim, nor does she act like one but like i said sucks to be her

As for what Kallen has gone through (sorry to be the downer) the tidbits we know of from her life don't paint a terribly idealistic picture. She grew up in a single parent household, and it can be assumed that her social life outside of her family consisted of anything from simple ostracization to being a frequent victim of assault...and these will be the best years of her life. She watches her people get slaughtered and subjugated at the age of ten, and eventually her family as well, and we know her closeness to her brother was enough for her to want Suicide by Cop when he died. Her mother seemed to abandon her, only to live under the same roof as her and another woman who accused Kallen of being a whore to her face and in front of her friends. All while she has to lie about her very identity just to maintain this false "better life" that her brother wanted her to have. When she finally learns that her mother loves her, it is only after Kallen learns that she is addicted to a drug that has made her a near vegetable, and it was basically her fault for causing this and not noticing it earlier. A thirty second conversation would have averted all of this, but Kallen was too stubborn to take the first step. A few weeks later, she inadvertantly kills one of her best friend's parents. She watches the SAZ massacre and then learns that her idol, a guy she saw as the realization of her brother's dream, was using her from day one. She then abandons him and for all she knows, plays a hand not in the liberation of her people, but in the failure of that very attempt. She then goes on to learn that her hero, on top of using her, may have mindraped her into holding the lingering devotion she still had for him just like he caused the entire SAZ massacre (and she can only hope it really was an accident), all while being a known fugitive for a year, and unable to contact her mother, and believing that her friends hate her guts (especially if Milly's response to seeing her unmask herself was any indication). Then there's the "comfort me" scene...Sure, sure maybe it meant that deep down Lelouch saw her as something more, but at the moment it told Kallen that her hero...her idol...her one chance to realize her brother's dream, to give his and her lives any real meaning, and free her people from suffering and misery was just a selfish kid who still saw her as a thing...a thing to use and discard at his own convenience. Out of the entire cast, I honestly think that C.C. is the only character who has definately suffered more than Kallen (I'm not 100% on where I put Lelouch and Suzaku in relation to Kallen) |
