Bad enough that I've been confirmed as suffering from depression, and am now scheduled for theraphy to sort out myself. I have a shitload of work. I haven't had time to write. And I come home and I'm all worn out and tired and now even OG1 doesn't make me feel happy and there's so much to do and there's not enough time and there's isn't enough Goose to handle things and it never stops its going and going and goging and goging and the backlog never ever ends and i can't even keep track of it anymore and i barely even have time to sleep and i have almost no time for anything anymore and i can't even rest or do busting tonight because i have to go to church with my parents and....

Why the fuck is he offworld in the first place to be a mechanic? TSAB can get mechanics of their own. Figure this out and come back to me.

I have Yuuno as part of Alpha Platoon, Assault Company, OFM. I am working on a believable backstory for him. If I can do it, you can. Stop bitching and fighting Reiji. If you don't like it?

@ATC: Busting Deep Sky is on low low priority due to the fact that my focus is busting OCs. Besides... I guess you could invoke Rule of Cool on it. *shrug*

@Evil Rick: Will bust Techno-Union and your OCs later. Haxbusting is a group process here.

@dkellis: regarding desk jobs, my little-seen OC 1st Lt. Mikhail "Eternal Virgin" Dornitz (it's a long story which needs to be fleshed out, filled with cracky-lolness that can only come from real life) does desk work. He was a cop with the Erusian Gardai before joining the TSAB (well, a cop who wore body armor), and does intelligence work, ferretting out details, hunting down leads, and a lot of stuff that's really really really boring but absolutely essential.

Now I have exactly five minutes to find and print a shitload of pictures before I run back to work.

The Forwards, along with Fate,Maren, Yui, Koji, Rein (sitting on Koji's shoulder) and Treize arrived there, Vice was already waiting for them.
Vice turned around and saw the group walk towards him, "Oh, right on time. The preparations were just finished, we're ready to take off at any time." He smirked.
"Thank you." Fate replied.
"Alto-san, you're coming too?" Caro asked.
Alto nodded, "I'll be going as the Co-Pilot" She smirked.

"Shall we board then?" Fate turned to the group behind her.
"Yes." They replied.

The group entered the helicopter, the hatch closed and the propellers began to spin faster.

"Permission to take off granted, have a safe journey." Lucino said via transmission.
"Roger." Vice replied, "Well, let's get going!" and took off.

En route to the Maritime Quarantine Facility, the group chatted with each other.
"Oh, that's right, Fate-senpai...about my request." Koji asked her.
"Ah, yes...It took a while, but I got permission for the three of us."
"Eh?" Yui looked puzzled, "What request?"
"Rein wants to know too ~desu" She said.
Koji turned to them, "I asked Fate-senpai to get a permission for us to go to the prison where Scaglietti is kept, and Maren is coming with us.
"EHH???" Yui and Rein shouted, the Forwards also looked surprised.

"Koji-san why are you going there?" Erio asked.
"Does it concern Trei-chan?" Caro said worried.
"Y-yeah...it's sort of about Treize...I just have some questions to ask...that's all..." He said that, but it was a lie, there was another reason to want to talk with Scaglietti, but he just couldn't say it...
"So, after we pay a visit to everyone at the Facility, me, Maren and Koji will head there." Fate looked at the Forwards.
"Yes." The Forwards replied.

"It's not fair ~desu. Koji-sama why didn't you ask for a permission for Rein too?" She complained.
"Puu~ And me too, Onii-chan!" Yui added.
"W-well..." Koji sweatdropped. (I can't say they're not needed, they'll get upset about it...)
"You'll be going along with Maren-san, just the two of you! That's not allowed! ~desu!" Rein continued.
"But...Fate-senpai is coming too..." He pointed it out.
"That's right, there's nothing to worry about." Fate replied.

Yui pouted, while poking Maren's shoulder, "Maren-chan, you're so lucky, you get to be all alone with Onii-chan~"
"E-eh?" Maren blinked, not quite getting it. "What do you mean?"
"A-ano..." Fate asked for attention.
"Come on, Maren-chan, you know what I'm talking about.." She kept poking her.
(...Ignoring me?) Fate's eye twitched.

The Forwards, and Treize, watched as Yui and Rein complained about Koji and Maren going "alone"...
"L-like I said...Fate-senpai is-"
"Stay out of this!" Rein and Yui said.
"But..." He gave up and sighed, as he turned to Fate, "I'm sorry, Fate-eep...!" he froze.

"I mentioned it already, I'm accompanying Koji-sama because he asked me to." Maren tried to explain.
"Is that so?" Rein raised an eyebrow, "I'm sure you're up to something, and use this chance to-"
"Excuse me..." Fate called them.
"Fate-san right now we're having a-" Rein and Yui froze as they saw Fate's expression.
"I'll be going as well, so no need to worry, okay?" She said.
"Y-yes ma'am..." They shrunk.

The Forwards too, felt a chill down their spines...
(Fate-san...scary...) Erio said to himself.
(Fate-san is scary...but...so cool!) Caro commented.
As for Treize, she just learned how scary Fate can be when ignored.

Having passed through a quick inspection, everyone was allowed to pass, and headed to the where the captured Numbers were.
As they entered, they saw Wendi holding onto Nove, possibly teasing her about something.
"I said stop!" Nove tried to pull Wendi off her.
Then, Wendi noticed, "Oh, we have guests."
"Huh?" Nove looked towards the door.

Erio and Caro fastened their pace and stopped in front of Wendi, "Ano..." Caro looked at Wendi.
"Yes ~su?" She looked back at Caro.
"Could you tell us where Lu-chan is?" Caro asked.
"Came to see Lu-ojousama?" She smiled.
"Yes." They replied together.
"Well, she's in her usual spot, over there ~su" She turned to a corner of the large room, where Lutecia was with Agito, looking out the window.
"Thank you." Erio and Caro bowed.
"Fate-san, let's go! We'll introduce you to Lu-chan." Caro smiled as she turned to Fate.
Fate smiled back, "Okay." and they headed toward Lutecia.
"Rein is going too ~desu." She flew off Koji's shoulder and followed Fate.

The moment Nove saw Subaru, she looked away, folding her arms. "Hmph..."
Subaru sweatdropped and tittered.
"And the rest of you? ~su" Wendi asked.
"Ah, we just came along." Teana replied, waving her hand.
Koji stepped forward, "Where is Cinque-san?" He asked.
That question caught Nove's attention.
"Oh?" Wendi said a bit surprised. "Hmm..." She looked at him closer, "Blue hair, green eyes, wearing a red bandana...Ah, you must tbe the guy who took Cinque-nee's hear-" But she was quickly intercepted by Nove.
"Stop saying nonsense!" Nove shouted as she covered Wendi's mouth. She looked at Koji, "...What do you want with Cinque-nee?" She asked in an aggressive tone.
"Well...I came to see how Cinque-san is doing..." He sweatdropped.
"Hmm..." Nove stared, suspicious of him.

Maren, intervened, "Could you please indicate us to Cinque-san's location? We have someone who wants to see her."
She moved out of the way, revealing Treize.
"Ah..." The moment Wendi and Nove saw her, they knew she was a Sentoukijin, "She's..."
"Go ahead, introduce yourself." Koji said.
Looking at Koji, Treize nodded, took a couple of steps and bowed politely, "...Treize...yoroshiku." And raised her head.
"Ooh! Ain't she cute? ~su" Wendi huggled her.
"So...she's the secret 'Number 13' that Sein and Cinque-nee were talking about..." Nove looked at her.
While still being huggled by Wendi, Treize looked up at Nove, and blinked.
"W-what are you looking at?" Nove asked.
Treize blinked again, "Onee-san?"
"Geh?" Nove stepped back, blushing, then looking away. "D-don't call me that...I hardly know you..."
"Oh! Call me 'Onee-san' too ~su." Wendi asked with a smile.
Treize looked at Wendi and blinked, "...Onee-san."
"Ah~ It's so much cuter than Deed's way to adress me ~su." She huggled Treize again.

Yui approached them, and put herself in Treize's level, "Isn't great that you have such nice sisters?" She asked her.
"...un." Treize nodded.

Meanwhile...
"Lu-chan~" Caro said as she walked toward Lutecia.
Lutecia and Agito turned around, "Oh, it's those two from the other time..." Agito said as she saw Caro and Erio.
But along with them, was Rein, and Agito scowled at her presence...
"What are you doing here?" Agito folded her arms.
"Is there a problem with Rein being here?" Rein asked.
"'An Unison Device has to be by its master's side at all times.'" She said proudly. "And I don't think I see your master anywhere?" She looked around. (Where's Signum?) Agito said to herself.
"Well..." She blushed, "He's not my master, but I wouldn't mind at all if he was." She glanced at Koji, who was still taking with the others.
(This one's pretty messed up...) Agito sweatdropped.

Back to Lutecia, Caro and Erio...
"So, how are you doing?" Caro asked.
"Fine. The tests' results show no problems with me."
"That's good to hear." Erio said.
"Oh, that's right, we heard that you mother was taken to a hospital." Caro remembered.
Lutecia nodded, "The doctors say that even without a Relic she'll eventually wake up if treated properly."
"That's good news." Fate stepped closer.
"Fate-san." Erio turned around.

Lutecia looked at the woman in front of her, admiring her.
"Fate-san is the one who save your mother." Caro said.
Fate put herself at Lutecia's height, "Hi, you're Lutecia, right?"
Lutecia nodded, "Un..." She hesitated, but then spoke, "Th-thank you for saving my mother."
Fate smiled at her, "I'm glad for you, soon you'll be reunited with your mother, and then you'll live a happy life with her."

She looked at Erio and Caro, who smiled at her...This is the person they were talking about when they fought her that day.
The one who saved them from their sadness and loneliness, and showed them a path that they can proudly walk in.

I whipped up a new concept for the Extension Device System. As of now, Almaria is no longer a Synchronization Device, but is now classified as a AI-Extension Device (as in AI-Module).

Tertiary: Prototype Armament-Extension Devices
Aurion has an odd habit of bringing along a couple or more random Storage or Armed Devices which he customized himself. None of these devices have AI capabilities and are just generally a bit sturdier and stronger than standard issue devices in TSAB (Incidentally, he also makes more money from manufacturing customized and improved devices for the higher-ranking mages of TSAB). The extra devices he brings can range from swords to firearms. These devices are specialized to individually absorb the backlash of energy from the cartridges. Functionality is sacrificed for durability and a space-consuming energy shock-absorber system, allowing Aurion to use more cartridges without much strain, but at the price of typically harder spellcasting when compared to that of Reishiki or even normal Storage Devices.

Here are some of the common extra devices he brings. They are all stored as cards when not in use:
VKA 01 – Non-AI Armed Device which takes the form of a sword. 5 cartridges default
VKA 02 – Non-AI Armed Device which takes the form of a long-range energy rifle. 5 cartridges default
VKA 03 – Non-AI Storage Device which takes the form of an S2U-class magic staff. 6 cartridges default

However, as time went on, Aurion upgraded the first two VKA units to accommodate the experimental Armament-Extension System, which is one of his current magitech research projects. This function takes place when Reishiki’s frontal frame literally ‘opens’, the mechanical hand being slid to below the forearm to make room for a slot where the either VKA-01 or 02 can be inserted in their card forms into. When the device has been slotted in, Reishiki’s parts clamps in on it and starts transforming and integrating the attached device to become a part of his arm.

VKA 01 – Reishiki changes to become a sword-arm. Melee spells are augmented to a great degree at the price of a sizable reduction in range capabilities.
VKA 02 – Reishiki changes to become an arm-rifle. Shooting spells are augmented to a great degree at the price of a sizable reduction in melee capabilities. This is the more used function of the two since Aurion is primarily a ranged-attacker. Spellcasting in general is also easier here.

The programmed naming of the linked devices varies on the parts attached.

Reishiki BA (Blade-Arm) = Reishiki + VKA-01
Reishiki GA (Gun-Arm) = Reishiki + VKA-02
Almaria BA (Sword-Arm) = Almaria + Reishiki + VKA-01
Almaria GA (Gun-Arm) = Almaria + Reishiki + VKA-02

Regardless, the Armament-Extension System has yet to reach the ideal level of development as the preceding AI-Extension System of Almaria. While the formation and use of the linked devices in itself already cause additional strain on Aurion’s endurance, the system in itself is still inefficient to a degree, as the completed forms are arguably less than the sum of their parts; both literally and taken as a whole with his capabilities. There are indeed boosts in the specific area where Aurion forms the Gun or Sword arms. And of course, there are according decreases in functionality as a whole due to the specialization of the combined devices. But the problem is; the decrease in functionality is lower than it should be; thus the problem as it severely compromises Aurion’s adaptability, which is pretty much his defining point as a mage. To compensate, Aurion only does this in situations where such choice is unavoidably needed or when he has somebody else covering him. And of course, this doesn't suddenly make him an expert in the field the combined device is specializing in. It's more of getting an appropriate utility in extreme circumstances.

Doesn't look too bad, I see that you're making the advantages less and the disadvantages more. Does it limit Aurion's other more exotic capabilities, like magic particle control? :3

Erio – Erio, suffice to say was somewhat suspicious about Aurion when they first met; mainly because of his enigmatic persona that reminded him of some of the scientists who treated him as a lab rat before he was saved by Fate. However, he had a change of mind about the strange man when he saw how much Fate seemed to trust him. Out of the four Forwards, he was the next most enthusiastic person to Subaru in the ‘Aurion Dauer Combat Capability Investigation’ plan. As he did not want to believe Fate could lose so easily. In the end, seeing how Fate lost amused him a LOT despite himself. Unfortunately, he had the hardest time of the four since Fate (complete with a flushed face and teary eyes) actually begged him not to laugh, to which he complied with the best of his willpower. Suffice to say, he wasn’t able to hold it, making Fate upset and (in a very uncharacteristically childish way) calling him cruel, subsequently wracking him with guilt. The fact that Caro had a crazy interpretation of the tactic Aurion used to defeat Fate helped little with his plight.

Caro – Caro, not unlike Rein, was a bit terrified of Aurion at first, opting to hide behind anybody (usually Erio) whenever he was around. It was probably due to the strange atmosphere around him, which confounded her. On the flip side, her main partner dragon, Friedrich, was not at all uncomfortable around the man, actually using his head as a perch on some occasion. In any case, Aurion managed to break thru the little girl’s apprehension with enough time. She was also a rather (or more likely the only) oblivious member of Subaru’s notorious ‘Aurion Dauer Combat Capability Investigation’ plan. Unlike the others, she wasn’t really too curious of the matter, but tagged along instead of getting left out. As it turns out in the end, she had the worst reaction of the four forwards when she found out how Fate lost to Aurion using an illusion of Chrono confessing to her. In her impression, Fate was attracted to Chrono by then. It shouldn’t have been so bad, but in this case, she thought that Fate STILL has feelings for Chrono up to now! This caused her to blush heavily and start mumbling about forbidden love between siblings… Fate’s embarrassment (especially her blushing) didn’t help the situation at all, as Caro somewhat involuntarily didn’t believe Fate’s denials. The case was resolved later, but not without a fair share of laughs on Hayate, Nanoha and Keroko’s (as well as the other bridge bunnies’) side.

Eep! Erio is being cutely protective of his adopted mother, and Caro is feeling the heat blues of ... confessions.

Emili-Glen is nice! It's always good to have "moral support" before engaging. Though it looks like Franz is at the receiving end of Naomi's foul humor.

Fast-paced action throughout, and Omega is shaping out to be quite a tough enemy. I thought Caro would've summoned Voltaire when the situation gets out of hand, but guess she didn't (By the way, was the thing chasing them a Mutalisk? The three-pointed glaive sounds familiar. ). And Garyuu Yoda-speak is a bit funny, but that is offset by GARIO'S magnificent entrance!

It's a great surprise that his most powerful attack was stopped, but it does make for a good opening for the OFM's dynamic entrance.

Onwards, to the next chapter we will!

Leona turned slowly, and her eyes fell upon a middle-aged man, his dark blue hair flaring slightly in the front, and his eyes as deep as the ocean and as black as polished onyx. There was a mysterious glitter, an inquisitive nature to his gaze, but his smile was kind, compassionate even.

“I’m sorry if that sounded terrible. I can’t remember the last time I’ve sang a song,” Aurion said softly. “A Maiden’s Sigh is a good, if a little melancholic, choice to practice.”

Leona could not speak and only stared speechlessly at the man. Aurion casually continued through the conversation. “You don’t mind if I sit, do you?” But, he took it without waiting for her reply.

“Delayed Bind,” Aurion answered smoothly, a devious smile on his face. Then, in a highly conspiratorial tone, he continued, “I placed it when I touched your neck.” He winked mischievously.

Leona hesitated. “W-why are you doing this?”

“I told you, I wanted to know you better,” he said. His face was so near that Leona could see the contours of his face perfectly. Aurion might be in his late thirties, but there was a deep-seated masculine charm, a beatifying flawlessness, that was difficult to dispel once a person held them.

No! This is wrong! Leona told herself firmly. “Aurion-san, I don’t think this is appropriate. I need to continue with my work ...” Leona strained against the binds, raising her own magic against the fetters that chained her, trying to break free.

Very unexpectedly, Aurion made a simple gesture, and spoke: “Struggle Bind.”

A number of golden chains flashed in the air, and with an almost loving affection, overlaid themselves over the previous binds. Unlike other forms of capture spells, Struggle Bind was able to drain the magic of the person bound to it, thereby preventing them from breaking free easily. And even now, Leona could feel her magic dissipating, her resolution breaking ...

“Aurion-san ... no ...” Leona pleaded. With her powers vanishing, she was unable to escape until Aurion release her from his magic.

With a silent, casual motion, Aurion raised himself from bench and stood in front of Leona, his eyes burning intensely. He advanced slowly, methodically, approaching Leona with each deliberate and steady step. And when he was directly in front of her, such that their eyes meet and their nose almost touching, Leona was forced to yield, retreating to her back. She could move no more; the bench was directly behind her, and so she was forced to seat. “Aurion-san ... no ...” she said again.

“No?” Aurion repeated in a voice that betrayed no emotion, his eyes still fixed on the azure-haired woman before her. His expression was unreadable.

“Yes, no ...” Leona said, closing her eyes as if in prayer. “Please, release me ...”

There was no response. When she opened her eyes, Leona was shocked to find herself gazing into those mysterious onyx pupils. There was a familiar pull, a mesmerizing enticement, that seemed to draw her inner self out. She could not escape from those gaze, from those binds, or from his proximity.

And he was so close that Leona could distinctly hear his steady breathing, feel the heat of his face, and most of all, experience an almost unquenchable desire to give in. Such was the true magic of Aurion Dauer, one that she had not expected to come across.

“You are beautiful, Leona,” Aurion spoke, his voice husky. He had one hand on the bench at the side of her face, as if creating a boundary that would separate illusion from reality. “So very beautiful ...”

He moved his face closer, and in that, Leona felt her heart quavered. Her lips trembled even as she could not utter a word, and the sight of his moving lips, moving ever so slowly forward, sent ripples of unbridled desire up her spines.

“You are beautiful, Leona,” he repeated. “And yet beneath you hide secrets deep and well-protected ...”

His face moved past hers, and onto the right of her face. He was close to her ears, his breathing slightly faster.

“Those secrets ...” he whispered, the cold breath washing over her cheeks and neck awakening a powerful yearning within her.

“I wish to know them ... even if it means ...”

Depends. The Cards at default require about two seconds at max for activation, though this can be accelerated depending on how much additional power is pumped into them, which means you'd want to use more magic if you want to henshin faster

Leona became silent; she did not like the sound of it at all.

“I-I’m sorry, Aurion-san,” Leona muttered. “I have things that I must attend to now. So, if you’ll excuse me ...” Leona rose from her seat. Yet, just as she stood up, she felt the tingle of something materializing, of magic saturating the air ...

And promptly, ribbons of glowing energy formed and wrapped themselves around her, binding her tightly from her chest downwards. Leona was so surprised that she was unable to react to it. She could not move at all.

“Wh-what is this?” Leona cried.

“Delayed Bind,” Aurion answered smoothly, a devious smile on his face. Then, in a highly conspiratorial tone, he continued, “I placed it when I touched your neck.” He winked mischievously.

Leona hesitated. “W-why are you doing this?”

“I told you, I wanted to know you better,” he said. His face was so near that Leona could see the contours of his face perfectly. Aurion might be in his fifties, but there was a deep-seated masculine charm, a beatifying flawlessness, that was difficult to dispel once a person held them.

No! This is wrong! Leona told herself firmly. “Aurion-san, I don’t think this is appropriate. I need to continue with my work ...” Leona strained against the binds, raising her own magic against the fetters that chained her, trying to break free.

Very unexpectedly, Aurion made a simple gesture, and spoke: “Struggle Bind.”

A number of golden chains flashed in the air, and with an almost loving affection, overlaid themselves over the previous binds. Unlike other forms of capture spells, Struggle Bind was able to drain the magic of the person bound to it, thereby preventing them from breaking free easily. And even now, Leona could feel her magic dissipating, her resolution breaking ...

“Aurion-san ... no ...” Leona pleaded. With her powers vanishing, she was unable to escape until Aurion release her from his magic.

With a silent, casual motion, Aurion raised himself from bench and stood in front of Leona, his eyes burning intensely. He advanced slowly, methodically, approaching Leona with each deliberate and steady step. And when he was directly in front of her, such that their eyes meet and their nose almost touching, Leona was forced to yield, retreating to her back. She could move no more; the bench was directly behind her, and so she was forced to seat. “Aurion-san ... no ...” she said again.

“No?” Aurion repeated in a voice that betrayed no emotion, his eyes still fixed on the azure-haired woman before her. His expression was unreadable.

“Yes, no ...” Leona said, closing her eyes as if in prayer. “Please, release me ...”

There was no response. When she opened her eyes, Leona was shocked to find herself gazing into those mysterious onyx pupils. There was a familiar pull, a mesmerizing enticement, that seemed to draw her inner self out. She could not escape from those gaze, from those binds, or from his proximity.

And he was so close that Leona could distinctly hear his steady breathing, feel the heat of his face, and most of all, experience an almost unquenchable desire to give in. Such was the true magic of Aurion Dauer, one that she had not expected to come across.

“You are beautiful, Leona,” Aurion spoke, his voice husky. He had one hand on the bench at the side of her face, as if creating a boundary that would separate illusion from reality. “So very beautiful ...”

He moved his face closer, and in that, Leona felt her heart quavered. Her lips trembled even as she could not utter a word, and the sight of his moving lips, moving ever so slowly forward, sent ripples of unbridled desire up her spines.

“You are beautiful, Leona,” he repeated. “And yet beneath you hide secrets deep and well-protected ...”

His face moved past hers, and onto the right of her face. He was close to her ears, his breathing slightly faster.

Of the parts above, somehow I am most intrigued by Yuuno's musings on Ambrosia and theology... looking forward to more of that

Most people would associate that with the huge mass of the core. Further, neither had to go much further than that.

If I were writing an excuse paper, I would lay it down as that long range conventional site to site transport is just too much for a single mage, or small group of mages. And that cross dimensional transfer gets away with single mages pulling it off because technically, they aren't changing position in a dimension jump. Just setting position to Upper Dimensional Space, and then giving a SETPOS command when entering the target world. ("Set my spawn point to factory G on map DEFCON Rising.")

A trick you COULD use, is to jump out to dimensional space, and then turn around and do a new jump... but you have to have a place to land for your middleground or you pop up in space. (Dimensional Space at that.) Space don't like living things too much. It tends to kill them.

Since suitable worlds seem to be everywhere, it couldn't be too hard to set such a point. People jumping from world to world never seem to have trouble finding suitable landing places. So it is just two world to world moves.

Besides, it is rather arbitrary to say that you can say "Set my spawn point to factory G on map DEFCON rising" and not "Set my spawn point to factory G on this map". A game might do that, but that's for arbitrary "gamey" reasons.

You have to come out of the map first. It's hard to translate how it would function in terms easier to relate to how it would cause problems. The best I can relate at the moment is this.

I will isolate just two universes. Mid childa, and Earth. or Mid and Earth for faster typing.

Now, assuming you start on Earth... You do the usual transfer magics for all your short range stuff. But how does this magic move you? Do you dissassociate into near lightspeed particles and transit to your new location? Not likely... the transfer magic seems to imply things moving rather slow from point to point. If the CORE was any indication. (took something like, 30 seconds to 45 seconds to dump it in orbit.)

Does it warp space? Not that I can tell.

Or does it wormhole tunnel? If the imagery in A's with the core can be considered any kind of indicator. Some kind of spatial tunnel is formed. Like a temporary wormhole. Or fold. For either... the longer the distance you tunnel or fold, the more energy you use. Magic may be a good shortcut... but a Mage is not exactly a nuclear reactor of magic. Not even Hayate.

How do you get past this problem? Well, since we have multiversal spaces, we have a little loophole to exploit.

First, by exiting Earth Universe, you effectively cease to occupy a position in the 3D grid of Earthspace. Therefor, wherever you were, no longer matters. In the same way, it works with Mid. You are entering 3D space from a fourth direction, thus, location in the 3 planes is of no concern, thus you get to designate any 3D coordinet... and you simply APPEAR there.

You then reverse the process to get where you need to be on Earth.

What happens, is that you neither fold Earth Space or change it, and neither do you 'move' at all as far as newtonian physics is concerned. Thus, with dimensional jump magic, you actually never move. You simply cease existing at point A, and come into being at point B.

OR, to simplify matters, I'll drop a dimension.

Starting with a piece of paper.

Your existence is marked by the point of a pencil in contact with this paper.

To move from point A, to Point B, you must drag the pencil across the paper. This expends your graphite and takes time based on the limitations set forth by friction.

OR, like dimensional transference magic, you can take your pencil OFF the paper (moving in the third dimension outside the realms of Paper Space.) and then place it anywhere on the paper you want. Between taking it off, and putting it back, the Pencil never technically moves from point to point and never draws a line.

The difference of course being that you can hold a pencil in the air all you want... but for some air breathing mage, they have to pitstop somewhere. Like another piece of paper floating above your head or taped to the wall.

Thusly, you could say that point to point movement magic is useful, but as you increase the 3rdspace distance between points, the energy requirement skyrockets. And with dimensional transport magic, 3rdspace distance is meaningless. However Dimension transfer magic is still energy intensive... and thus, why it would be kind of silly to use it to jump into combat without say, a cruiser to do the work. And that answer would be because making two hops like that would be as draining as medium range Point to Point hops, and full long range point to point hops would just plain make you incapable of fighting.
