Either way, the manga is currently on hold as of chapter 11. Until it comes back, that doesn't make much of a difference.
In other news, the scan here apparently says we'll get more news on Code Geass Gaiden in the fall season. In other words, by August/September or so. I don't think we'll see the project this year, but this teasing should lead to something more concrete. |

Don't worry, I think they're just going for a big build up, and testing the waters to see if there's still interest.

That would be neat or an episode 0 kinda like a prequel showing the events of how Akito got to where he is at the present time this series takes place.
Or it could be something like another Kiseki no Birthday event where they show the old cast in a new PD drama. This time I want them to add Gino and Anya too. Dx

Well Sunrise is working on getting more mecha animes rolling out so news will eventually come out when their list starts becoming shorter. Probably more news will come out after this Fall possibly?

There isn't any complete translation of that scan, which is unfortunate, but according to the livejournal community it does suggest we will receive more information during the fall. That's all we can say right now.
Therefore, I believe he is simply speculating. In any case, it doesn't take a lot of guesses to assume that the new project should be ready by late 2011 or early 2012. Either date works as a reasonably valid -if also unconfirmed- estimate. Which means we're still going to play the waiting game. And as far as simple speculations go, I believe Hooves is more or less correct about the idea that Sunrise doesn't want to reveal all of its cards just yet. In the short term, Sunrise's own Sacred Seven looks a lot like Code Geass at least as far as visual designs go, Production I.G.'s Guilty Crown involves the Code Geass writing staff and a similar premise, plus Gundam Age and Gundam The Origin have just been announced. In that context, it makes some sense to delay Code Geass Gaiden for a while. Which is fine by me. Like I've said before, R2 lacked both time and previous planning. Here's another update, this time from Masayuki Ozaki, who is Sunrise's General Manager of Overseas Development:

It is more or less a case of stating the obvious, true, but at least now we have an official explanation. In addition, the use of the word "season" here also seems to confirm the new project will probably be a TV series instead of an OVA or anything else. Finally, it's good to hear we will indeed get to see several different countries (or characters from the same) during the story. EDIT: Here's a slightly different take on the same answer: Quote:
