It could be worse, don't forget how many people like ship characters of same sex...

I think I would rather take this one (or Nao... or Inukai...or Akane. Well Key show around same amount interest (nearly zero) to every girl so it doesn't really matter).

Shipping existed before anime and before it was called "shipping". There are some merits in the KeiMako ship. They cooked together, tended the garden together, and had a festival date together. I would say they did a lot more than some couple in a Jdrama.

Chinatsu's presence is to complete the family portrait with papa-san Kei and momma-san Makoto. Besides, if there is a more favorable candidate for Kei like Makoto (main girl material) I have no reason to let my mind wander elsewhere.

But no, it's not totally legit. Makoto isn't going to get it on with her cousin any more than she's going to turn into Nanoha and start throwing out city-sized explosions, or any more than gundams are going to show up and have the kids be pilots, or any more than flesh-eating zombies will show up and kill the entire cast, or any more than freakish floppy-eared white animal-like creatures will appear and ask Chinatsu if she wants to be a magical girl. It just isn't any of those kinds of shows.

Ah, it's unfortunately that those "creatures" showed up. It must be so unsightly and disturbing to see such undesirable topic popping up ruining the level of anime sophistication and eliteness.

It translated as "cousin", but what he specifically said was a relation "close" to cousins. He doesn't elaborate just what he defines as "close to cousins", so translators went with the closest thing they could think of. That doesn't mean that's what they are, so I'm going to wait until it's confirmed that their relationship comes from their parents being cousins.

Holy smokes. Talk about a classic example of slice of life! That ep's contents reminded me a lot of some of the eps from Sketchbook Full Colors - barely anything "happens" and yet I was interested in it all!

Kei and Chinatsu's mom is super easy going too ... the dialogue between her and Chinatsu when the latter was going out had me in stitches for some reason. XD
